Just checked trichromes on all my plants. All were cloudy, but only one had hints of amber. Wondering if I should chop tomorrow since we're in for a lot of rain. No frost, but cool and wet. Any advice? My 1st outdoor grow.
Depends on if you are checking from the leaf or the calyx. Most do not know you are not suppose to check from the leaf itself. They mature much faster then the trichomes on the calyx itself (which is what we smoke not the leaf) Do you have a pic of the whole bud? That would help us help you a lot.
Thanks for the reply. I was checking from the calyx. I will try to post pics of the buds. Had trouble in the past trying to get pics up. I'll go outside later and get pics of buds and trichromes. Thanks again for your interest.
Hope the photos are clear enough. I'd love to hear your opinions. Weather is great today, wet tomorrow, but all the way up to sunny and 70 on Wednesday.
I chopped this one today. It was my only plant with some amber. Going to hold off on the rest if I can. I may move all of the potted ones into the garage at night and run a box fan.
This has been a good week weather wise. I've been able to push my harvest time back until this weekend. A bit more time to ripen up. Checked trichromes yesterday. Still mostly cloudy with almost no amber. Chopped a small plant that looked pretty ripe. May chop another one or two before the weekend so they can get a head start on drying. I simply don't have time to do all of the trimming in one go.
My bad. Kind of burnt out this year after building the big new enclosure and planting. Had much less help in the spring than I had planned on, and didn't end up giving the garden the kind of love and care I like to post here. That said, things went pretty well. Here's an update: Oct 11 Built a trimming machine the other day and it works. Like a dry pound at a time. I'll never trim again. Building raised beds and prepping them for winter now. Cheers!
Raked back the mulch and spread 2 bags of cow manure compost and about a pound of milorganite and a pound of neem seed meal over each bed. Put the mulch back in place. Moved the t-posts out to 5'x5'. Cut out the old reefer trees with a sawzall. Ready for next spring. Going no-till from now on. Cheers!
Going to be some good soil for next year. Do you do any composting? A composter came with my house already mostly full. I've been adding my coffee grounds, fruit, veg, etc. for about 3 years now. I get some pretty rich stuff out of the bottom when I need it.
