Organic fridge grow with germination and clone area in freezer.

Discussion in 'Growing Organic Marijuana' started by hophead636, Jan 28, 2019.

  1. So heat me out, I got an old fridge in the basement and actually have 2 more one is a side my side too which had me thinking as well but that’s for later after a easy one possibly. I got the fridge in the pics just hanging out doing nothing, use to be my fermentation chamber when I home brewed. Was thinking about gutting it of everything cutting the bottom hump out so it will be flat then patch it back in for smoothness. Then build a grow box for a no till set up and I still have the hole fridge part for grow and do one of the thinnest light set up possible for nice stretch if they want to. Thoughts opinions just random talk let me know what you guys think will be for my first grow and that’s prolly not even for a while still slowly getting the wife on board, so why not come to the best group I have found so far in my short time finding grow communities and see if I can make it where I can grow super cheap and make something my self that can cost us less then if I went for a tent or anything, sorta a project to keep building and creating till I can start growing in it. 2. Refrigerators are very well insulated which mean you might have heat issues.

Are you looking at this for stealth reasons or just cause its there?

  3. I've seen setup's with quantum boards in fridges work pretty good if you get a good extraction fan. Hell i've seen people grow and flower plants in a 5 gallon buckets.

  4. Because it’s there and free lol cheap and free keeps my wife happy when it comes to my hobbies, was thinking venting in both spots freezer prolly with pc fans then a nice one in the grow spot with intake below for constant breeze over plant with a small fan in opposite corner of In take fan on the bed or slightly raised. The insulation did cross my head but was thinking maybe could help with what ever the lowest temp lights and thinnest board to maximize grow height. Thoughts?

  5. So got a bag seed going might just get it started in here and plop in the garden out side once temps get better. Got the fridge on temp control at 75 for right now lol I germeneated t and only got life out of the one had a feeling the other two had a small crack in them. I’ll keep updating as it goes and we shall see what happens got 2 100w led daylight bulbs right now will snag a few more or any one have some advice on better ones just going cheap and easy to get it out doors right now hoping to find a few more bag seeds and have a couple out side. Any advice or tip or tricks hit me up always down to learn.

  6. Way too much light for seedlings at this stage.

  7. Oh ok should I take it down to one I did raise it up because I wasn’t liking the temp.

  8. I sorta popped the seeds not expecting to get one to actually root, I thought they were all cracked but then the one did so I was like all right quick easy for now

  9. Even one would be a bit much. Usually 25-50w cfl is enough for seedlings. With LED you can go with 5-10w. You can still use what you have it just uses more electricity then needed. set it as high as you can.

Is there enough room in there ? How many plants you running? Id try to find a free armoire i always see them at yard sales or free on the curb. Or maybe do what i did my first grow and buy 10 bucks worth of pvc and build a cube then cover with reflective panda paper or whatever. My fridge is pretty small and i feel itd be a bitch to cut holes in the metal for intake and exhaust and if theres still freeon it could start leaking. Guess it all depends on what you’re trying to do where and your situation.

Just thought about how low key that would be though. Would be sick if you had somone in your house like grandma or whatever u didn’t what them to know about the grow just tell them dont open that fridge it shit the bed and some milk eggs and lunch meat went rancid
    In there.

  11. I need to cut out the door plastic and I think I could veg decent sized before transplanting outside when temps get nice. I got the fridge keeping temps with my temp controller from when I was homebrewing it was a fermentation chamber now we shall see what it can do
