Is it worth seeking clones that are from organic mothers and cloned using organic techniques? Any thoughts?
Tree Try taking a look at this thread. http://forum.grasscity.com/do-yourself/444974-lets-build-clone-machine-*step-step*.html I've built a few for myself and others. Water only needed.
I think he was asking if you thought it was important to seek out organically cloned cuts from organic mothers.... Not if it can be done. Last cut I bought wasn't organic, but it was after I brought it home. Needed a cut fast, at the time. Even then if you find organic cuts, you're trusting someone in the drug industry, so I mean . . . . . . This hobby isn't exactly full of boy scouts, if you get me. Choices, man. Choices.
I myself dont grow any cuts from anyone. I have once. And never again. If I havent grown the mother from seed I wont accept it. Thats just me personally.
Tree, I don't personally believe it matters at all. You can take cuts off of a hydro grown plant and grow it out organically. Also, somewhere around here there's an organic cloning thread. I like using aloe and BioAg Fulvic but like Izzy says, water works good too. I just have found it takes me a tad longer. Mj
I've tried all of LD's advice. In my room, doing this made the cuts take longer, of the 95% that didn't rot out after 2 days. After rooting, the few that did manage to survive, most had stem rust of some sort. The one or two that made it with no rust grew exactly the same, if not a bit worse, then the water-only cuts. Even then, you are using concentrated extractions (FA/protekt) and that is getting borderline bottle grower. You could spend $30 on FA, $25 on aloe, another $15 on pro-tekt to try to experiment on your own. After doing this, lots of attempts, lots of anger, lots of frustration, lots of lost plants .... I simplified and went water only. I had actually went out and bought some cloning powder, but never used it. LITFA > complicated (even if it is 'organic'), IMO
All outsiders get the neem / dr bronners dip n shake before staying the night round these parts.. hate them mites
Watch out for russet mites Learned those are in my area pretty bad. Good thing I'm a lonely misanthrope, so it's purchased seed only for me
of the 95% that didn't rot out after 2 days Pretty bad odds Izzy. I'd be using clear water too if I were you. J
