First, if this is in the wrong section I apologize in advance. So...a couple days ago I placed an order with HTG supply and yesterday I received a phone call from UPS saying they have my package from "High-Tech Gardens" and they are going to deliver it tomorrow so I need to make sure I'm home. Is this normal when ordering from htg supply? I've ordered a lot of stuff online over the years and have never received a phone before the delivery. Am I just being paranoid?
No,I don't think you are being paranoid. I think it is very strange that they called you. I would develop a cover story in case you need one. I would say that the lights are something you've been researching lately and you believe you can sell them on ebay for a healthy proffit, as HTG was running a deep discount special that you read about on an internet hot deals bargain hunter's website. Tell them you buy all kinds of stuff and resell it on ebay, regularly, and really you don't even know anything about the equipment except that you expect to make a healthy 15% return at auction. Or even better, your brother in law is expecting a healthy 15% return at auction. Again, its fucking weird that they called you and I would be alarmed as well.
Let us know what happens cuz I can just as soon never order from HTG (even though they have some nice shit)... dchydro.com usually has what I need and they are ultra discreet
so...let me get this right...you think ups and the dea are workin' together to bust you cause you ordered a grow light and it says garden supply on the package...am i gettin this right...how did you pay for it.....where i live so many ups packages have been stolen after being left at peoples houses it is not unusual for them to call and make sure someone is there to recieve it...but you guys are probably right
Number of packages received from UPS - about a zillion Number of phone calls from UPS regarding delivery - zero I guess FedEx must be kicking UPS's ass 'caus I never heard of this level of service from either of them!
lol....no worries...especially if you received soem faster form of shipping,or maybe you got a new manager in your area that has new policies blah blah blah....unless you ordered about 20 grand worth of straight lights I wouldnt be alarmed
maybe they went to deliver it and you werent there. and maybe htg wants a sig to make sure you got it.
Some of you should seriously never ever grow. What fun is it to stress about stupid shit like ups calling? Thats called being WAY overly paranoid. Ups calls because HTG requires a sig. They call to remind you to be home. They have called me every time i have ordered from htg and some other sites. I mean whats next are you gonna jump 10 feet every time someone knocks on your door? Not trying to be rude but your over doing the paranoia. lol and you got joegrow over here mapping out an entire alibi of selling htg crap for a 15% mark-up.. rofl did you all get really high before you read/posted on this thread?
I wish UPS would call me. I hate waiting for a package and finding that dreaded yellow slip. LOL. Damn, FOILED. hehehehehehe I used to have a really cool UPS guy. He knew I got every package so even if it was sig required, he would leave it by my side door even if I was not home. But I don't think he is the guy on my route anymore, because if I am not there, and don't leave a note to deliver next door, then i arrive home to find the slip saying they were there. Yea, I wish UPS would call me to tell me they were coming. Hell, I would tip them if they did that.
Well, I'll start at the end first. The answer is yes, its always yes, it will be yes next time you ask. I think paranoia is mostly a good thing. Thanks for telling us HTG calls you ever time you order. This is important information and very likely explains the whole thing. Nissty, you are nominated for best response in this thread so far.
UPS calls me almost every time I have a package. It's like an automated voice. I think it's pretty standard on certain kinds of shipping. That's just HTG giving you good service.
I've never, EVER had UPS call me about delivering a package, ever. On a lighter note, I THINK they do offer phone notification, I just never got a call. I've also ordered from HTG multiple times and never got a call from any of those orders either. Probably wouldn't worry too much though.
i wouldnt say the feds n ups teamed up BUT i know of a sting operation that happened down in s. florida where the dea, fbi, local, and state police were involved.. there was also the USPS involved! the fucking mailcarrier was probably tipping cops off! usps is a federally appointed business so its not too weird to hear, but you never can be too careful.. i would always have an alibi ready for everything, even one to cover your first false alibi.
That damn yellow slip... I think my fucking UPS doesn't even try to deliver the first time... He just sneaks in and slaps that yellow sticker on my door... BASTARDS!!!! -Loki
