Optimal PH for soil/soilless media

  1. Hi all, I have a question about differences in PH requirements for different media. The soil i am using is Vermi-PRO. It is a blend of coco coir, peat moss, aged softwood bark, perlite, and mycorrhizal fungi. Also i added 50% peat-moss to add some water holding capacity. I am aware that with hydroponics, the PH needs to be around 5.5-6, and with soil you want around 6-6.5. With the medium I have, wouldn't it be considered hydroponics and best to water with lower PH? Or would a higher PH be favored given that peat moss tends to lower PH over time?

  2. I would feed at 6.0. Good luck.

  3. Monitor the runoff's pH. Peat can go acidic and leave a root zone at a pH of 4.

  5. I would have added Perlite to the mix, not peat. I think you’ll be considered a nutrient lacking soil and should feed that way
