On the topics of jobs

  1. Who here works full time and hates their job ? And If this describes you in the past but you have a job you currently like. How did you get there ? Switch industries ? Get promoted ? Go to school ?

  2. The job I have now is okay. I don’t love the fact that it’s freelance (it’s essentially a full-time workload, but they don’t want to give anyone benefits), but I can work remotely (which means I’m never going to be drug tested and I can medicate without having to answer to anyone).

Before this, I had a full-time job as well as a part-time one. I was on the clock 12 hours a day, and it was fucking hell. I got the job I have now because I just would not give up on finding something better. If you throw enough pasta at a wall, eventually some of it is going to stick.

  3. Wageslaving in general is just awful. I wish I could NEET it up 2bqh famdingo.

  5. I have done everything from gas jockey to oil patch truck driver. My oil patch days often saw deductions on checks that were twice what I clear now as a landscaper, and my checks were YUUUUGE then....7K or 8K a month easily. More if I pushed it. One time I cleared $7300 on a single two week check. Pretty good coin.

Never been happier though now. I work as a landscaper during the day, and make extra money at night and weekends helping people set up rooms, help them diagnose sick plants, sometimes recover them for them etc.....

I will NEVER go back to the oil patch, and possibly never turn the key on a big rig again. I will get another part time job before I ever go back.

I'd rather have home time, with a decent paying job, and make a little extra money with my cannabis growing experience, than no life with more money.

No school. No more liabilities....truck driving is one of the worst for that.....EVERYTHING is your fault. The old innocent until proven guilty thing sort of gets tossed aside when you're a commercial driver and anything goes wrong. It's assumed you were at fault. You're piss tested, even if there's video footage and witness testimony showing someone commit a stupid act in front of you. "Oh....you have miniscule amounts of THC in your system, clearly smoked a month or so ago.....YOUR FAULT!". F***ing stupid.
And in Canada, since legalization, MORE companies are testing than ever before. One place wanted me to piss test for a cashier position at a fuelling station....like are you out of your damn mind? Lol!

Now when I go to work, I rake gardens, pick weeds, plant trees, lay sod, sometimes scoot around in a skid steer or a bucket loader......I go home almost every day at lunch and get blazed.....then I finish the day and go home to a 49 plant (upper limit) medical grow, and tour around helping others learn to grow their own organic cannabis.

I may do some small business of my own tied into landscaping, it may even be a truck, but I have to have a life. To me, that's the most important thing. No more oil patch, no more living in trucks, no more camps and security guards and piss tests and 16 hr days. Just myself and all my lovely ladies lol! 20190818_191406.jpg

  6. In an interesting situation where i have two options, continue down my current career path which is promising but demanding or go back to university to complete a network degree. I've worked the lower end of the job spectrum for a while so university this year and hopefully on a scholarship.

  7. My full time job is a temp gig, I don't really like temp gigs but the money is right...My last real job was at a gas station.

I got here by hittin' the road with no real direction, which might be what I do again in a few more months...I don't care for stayin' in one place too long, cool thing about temp gigs is you can always get one wherever you land.:coolalt:
