On a More Inclusive Society

Discussion in 'Politics' started by Jörmungandr, Aug 2, 2020.

  1. While your outrage over the egregious overreach of this administration resonates with many there are still untapped avenues for motivating apathetic voters. Demonizing the base who still believe in Trump's rhetoric may not be as effective as recognizing that they are still fellow Americans who passionately want this country to succeed. This could provide a chance to sway them away from sheepishly following by calling on them to lead like minded individuals to reexamine how Trump does not actually work towards the betterment of this nation. An appeal to voicing their concerns might shed new light on ways to fulfill the promise of the American Dream.

  2. What? You mean calling them idiots, bigots, racists, nazis and white males isn't effective?

  3. Brake checking an aggressive driver is rarely the best way to avoid an accident; likely it will focus their irrational behavior on you and anyone else in your vehicle. I'm trying to see the rainbow after the storm rather than rail at the wind. This thread is an admission of my misdirected anger and an olive branch to those I have belittled.

  4. a more inclusive society is in fact coming. if the pentagon and DoD do follow through on their commitment to provide a public report on unidentified aerial phenomenon (UAP), in 180 days, along with physical material of objects "not made on this earth", then I predict a huge societal shift is coming in our lifetimes. the leaks are pouring forth on this today.

google 'pentagon to announce off world' and see what you think. global change is coming. yay! lot's of msm reporting on it. it's coming.

  5. Acknowledging phenomena exists doesn't correlate with understanding the mysteries of the cosmos. The realization that we're not alone in this universe shouldn't distract from the fact that tribalism (nationalism) still pits us against each other.
Personally, I feel the money and energy expended in space exploration would better serve humanity by developing desalinization and purification systems to allow the most abundant resource on this planet to be utilized in the pursuit of feeding the hungry and reforesting desolate wastelands which would, in turn, address the negative impact of industrialization on the very air we all breathe. (Bonus points awarded for anyone who masters the art of run on sentences)

  6. This is how to beat Trump.

  7. acknowledging there is life beyond this planet and perhaps presenting physical evidence is going to rock society. i can accept it and have long acknowledged the great potential for it existing, and i think millions more feel the same way.

the world as we all knew it doesn't exist in a future vision of anyone. change IS coming. maybe peace, maybe kindness, maybe equality. idk, but i do try to look for bright spots and i feel that acknowledging materials not of this world will have a positive influence. i'm hoping so because this planet and many people on it are suffering in a myriad of ways.

we'll see. perhaps the Tesla car launched to Mars received a makeover and it's being sent back! that'd be cool.

You’re so full of hate dude. You’d think it would be so much better for your own head to think in more positive directions.

Do you have any creative hobbies that do bring you any kind of joy in life? You need some positive balance for all the negative thoughts that race through your head about places thousands of miles away from you.

You ever worry about stuff that’s happening in your own backyard??

With all the shit you talk about my country, what are your thoughts about shit like this happening in your beautiful country??

  10. we're probably already following their model of governing. i think marxism and communism had already been tried and failed many, many, time prior to Merica and democracy.

you know we be some bully mf'ers over here. talk shit about Merica and we'll send a fleet of F17's to visit. you know it's true

  11. If you're extending an olive branch you could have omitted the "sheepishly follow" Trump comment. For me it gave your post something of a passive aggressive flavor. The fact is no one thinks Biden will be a good president, the best recommendation he gets is he isn't Trump.

  12. It is no secret that I am opposed to Trump but I've stated elsewhere that I've never felt any politician on either side has represented my beliefs in the ideal. Your point is valid that the comment was a passive aggressive dig; it should be noted that I didn't voice my wholehearted support for Biden - just consider him the lesser of two evils at this stage. There is a political machinery behind both that works toward agenda that fails humanity. As I mentioned this thread is a realization of my own flaws in debate and I obviously have fanned the flames further by what you viewed as a high handed remark; for that I am sorry. An even more telling point is that the support for change that Trump represented for many has proven through his rhetoric and actions to further divide us all and chillingly separate us from the world community. There are no benevolent dictators but he's proving that's how he views his role. Executive orders are not unifying or negotiations with either side.

  13. How is Trump's opposition actually working towards the betterment of this nation? Just because you don't like Trump doesn't mean your other choice is any better.

  14. I don't think Trump is entirely to blame for the division. My comrades on the American left have been putting every effort into dividing people by race and gender for the last five years, and no efforts into self-reflection.

These are the closing lines of Animal Farm. Looking through the window from over here, it's been looking like that for years now over there.

Hence why I really commend this effort of yours to make peace. It's highly honorable.

  15. To be blunt, Trump seems to only view the world through the prism of his own self interest with an indifference to how it impacts anyone else. If you feel that he honestly cares, please enlighten me. There is an awareness from most others that we need to coexist; I truly feel that he would swat like a fly anyone who annoys him and his inhumanity engenders those who lack empathy to defend this soulless disregard for life.

Now he is "soulless". Who, in your opinion, has "soul"? I can tell you, before you even name him/her or them, that anybody could make the same assertions that you have, about your ideas of who has better feelings. They are ALL phonies, and most other politicians hide their true selves. Trump doesn't feel that he has to do this, and he messes up his image all the time because he just doesn't care.

This man is not Obama, nor Kennedy, Nixon, Bush or Bush, Clinton, or Biden - he is a businessman and can be very blunt, but he has not started a war, or changed anything that badly to be demonized the way that he has been. I didn't vote for him in the last election, but unless Biden comes out of his basement with proof that he's not senile, and has some plans that I agree with, I'm gong to vote Trump in 2020 - and so are a lot of other voters.

  17. If after almost 4 years you still believe Trump only views the world through the prism of his own self interest, there's nothing anyone can say to enlighten you. You completely missed his America first agenda. You still didn't tell us how Trump's opposition is working toward the betterment of our nation, but that's OK, no one can.

  19. That I'm closed minded to Trump's character and motives doesn't mean I'm unwilling to listen to how others feel. Again, please help me understand how he has positively impacted your life.
