OMG -- Mods Please

  1. I'm not trying to start another dialog about this topic, but woah... I just linked 6 posts, almost in a row, to the thread users comments should go in, instead of starting a new thread. At this time, there are 8 threads that have been linked to a different, appropriate thread. My panties woudn't be twisted if half of these weren't linked to the second page or same page.

I understand that it is easier to just start a thread, but I also think people should use a little common sense too. There are over 13K threads in the Rec room... lol There isn't much that hasn't been talked about in there. In no way do I want to keep people from interacting, I just wish they would learn a bit of message board etiquette before they started posting.

I just wanted to know if a mod could close some of those threads after people have been linked, so it will lead people to the correct thread instead of enabeling people to not use their heads. I so know this is a slipery slope, but with the influx of new members, maybe it would be a good way of teaching them to search first, then start a new thread.

If not, I think I need to be compensated for beating my head against the wall? :) hehe (j/k) I don't mind doing it when it's a few, but this morning blew my mind.

  2. One or more of those may be my fault. Though I don't start many threads, I also have a habit of never searching first. lol

  3. Bourbon, it wasn't you at all. And I'm not trying to tear down any new memebers... For the most part, the ones I linked this morning were all topics that were still active (just on the second and third pages).

Searching isn't always THE option. I don't do it every single time. I don't really think anyone is expected to do that... But in the last 2 days I think there have been 7 'how do you roll a joint/blunt' threads. 3 of the threads on the front page when I got here this morning were threads about posting your favorite games to play while high... lol

Replying is easier than starting a thread...

  4. Thanks dbw your posts calling those posts out and posting the links its appreciated. Its always a constant challenge keeping up with the consistent influx. Some of threads are different but so similar that they stay open. Others, as you know are exact duplicates. I went through and closed a few more of the threads that I think you were referring to, smoke some more for me to ease the stress. That search button needs to be like three times larger.
    :)

  5. Yeah, I have noticed a great deal of the same threads, slightly renamed, every day.

  6. My god, if we consolidated the 'Im so stoned' threads we could cut maybe a third of thread's. I think part of the thing is some members just want to start their own threads. Its part of the nature of things, that is why some of the 'hot' things have become faq's - like the drug test posts. Its a challenge, but all of those relevant articulate posts that are to the point sure do help a lot. ;)

  7. I do worry about making these comments. I don't want to decrease new user activity. People shouldn't be shy about posting their thoughts or ever worry that people may disagree with them. They should just use their heads a little.

ICK, thanks a million. You guys are more than welcome to let me know if I'm ever out of line with this kind of thing, just let me know.

  8. I agree completely for the most part, but in some cases I think a new thread is fine. I personally don't like those 10+ page long threads that come back from time to time. I wouldn't mind seeing the threads remade for the convenience of the easily confused stoned slacker (such as me) trying to figure out whats going on. It confuses me when a thread was started a couple years ago, and there are various chunks of dialogue from different time periods.

  9. You prob hate me then :p

  10. Let me just say this. My dog annoys me sometimes, but I could never hate her. I could never hate a fellow pot smoker.
