"This technique will continue to work as long as the dopers stay high and fantasize about all this technology that they don't understand and can't afford rather than doing actual research into their illegal operation. Fantasizing is what pot smokers do best! Imagine the look on their face when they read that your department just purchased one of these systems. Remember they call it DOPE for a reason!" i find that part very offensive.
Must be expensive, no prices. I saw some on ebay from around $1000-$8000. Maybe I will get one and show those jerks that we stoners have a clue.
My other half has a thermal imager (he's a surveyor) - it cost about £10,000 ish, and yep - I can pretty much tell who's growing weed in their attics around here - lol - there's a lot to be said for fluoros! I'm still keeping the hps going tho, here in UK chances are bloody slim that a) Plod will be screening every house in the neighbourhood, and b) your local Plod even have the knaus or the funds to use one of these things! lol Seriously though, these pics they use for illustration are tweaked to the max - to make it look more obvious, colour changes of just 1 degree can be illustrated in this way simply by adjusting the palette to a more "sensitive" setting. Using these things aint cheap, it isn't like a regular video cam, they have gas coolants etc. Small-time growers are still pretty safe for the mo I reckon - as long as you're sensible.
fucking scumbag cops. shouldn't they be busting meth labs, heroin and crack dealers, who actually do harm to the people. leave us peaceful stoners alone, we don't hurt anybody.
i have nothing to worry about. i live in a small town with a pd that has a budget of 5.99 and theres no way in hell that theyre gonna buy one. and i agree, theres definitely something to be said for fluoros
so the HPS lights put off alot of heat? so in a basement from the air it could be detected? i have heli's flyn around all the time...kinda wiggin me out..i only have 1 HPS its 400w...but 15 girls...and im startin to sweat...
OK I did allot of research yesterday on the topic of thermal imaging. Its not something to worry about if you are under 1000w. Here is the deal. the thermal imager detects the heat emitted by an object. its not any sort of x-ray thing. by that i mean the object between your light and the imager IE the wall must show some thermal influence of an object for it to be seen. Basically if your grow room is 85deg F and the rest of the house is 78deg F your walls on the grow room will absorb that heat and transfer it to the other side or exterior side wall that would then have a temperature difference compared to the exterior wall adjoining the 75 deg part of the house. This is a dead give away. The best heat shield is a air space between your grow room and any exterior wall. The air space should be kept at the same temp as the rest of the house. Now as far as hiding the lights thermal image or red dot. I don't think that happens and I think that would be viewed as a major privacy invasion. When you look at those images on the different websites you will notice that a truck for instance you do not see the heat signature of the hot engine block right you only see the influence of the hot engine on the hood and fenders of the vehicle. Piece of cake. Just don't let the room temp be different than the rest of the house and your golden. There is no infra red x-ray machine that is affordable. If im wrong let me know because I would hate to be one of those stupid dopers.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
Can't you buy this stuff called "Poly-shield" or something... that when lining your growroom, it would allow the light/plants to not be detected? Think I saw it in HT and some other mags.
yea i have 15 girls under 1 400w hps....is that not good? all of them are doing pretty good except for the damn spidermites
this is why i run my hps at night and its off during the day, and im glad i live in a no fly zone beside the commericial air traffic going to the airport
