Thoughts?? My thoughts are something extremly good is going to happen....or something really really bad.
if you're serious I'd love to see this evidence...I have a feeling that you aren't tho. 2012 = 2000... nothing will happen
"Turns out, there's quite a few sources for the supposed coming apocalypse. From the Mayans, whose “Long Count†calendar indicates that the apocalypse will occur on December 12, 2012, to “Bible code†followers who claim to have found evidence of a 2012 apocalypse in the book of the Revelation of John, the 2012 theory comes from a wide array of sources. Though most of these prophecies are spiritual in nature, some (like the Mayan code mentioned earlier) are a blend of spiritual and secular sources. Let's take a look at just a handful of the propecies indicating 2012 as the time of the apocalypse. Is 2012 the Apocalypse? Please take a look at this. There is many different theorys. I dont remember anything written in ancient scriptures for the year 2000....
Go get educated and grow up. EDIT: Maybe I am being a bit too harsh with my posts, but I've become very wary of what is going on in Congress, the government, the world... I think I'm becoming senile... sigh. Anyways, Sleek, there is no reason to believe in any of that pseudo-nonesence. People always pick out specific coincidences and build a list of them, trying to bluster their ideas. The year will come and go, just as it has always done. In the Middle Ages, the year 1000 was considered the year of the apocalypse as well. This was because of the fact that the bible mentions 1000 years of something... I forgot... raising up 40,000 virgin Jews to go out into the world? Anyways, it came and went. The world continued to spin around the sun. Check this out for similar 'apocalyptic' events in the past: http://www.abhota.info/end1.htm
not talking ancient scripture, just the entire scare of something. 2000 = Y2K Bug...remember how hard core EVERYONE was flipping out over that shit... only to see that they were flipping out over NOTHING. I expect this to be the same way. "Ancients" couldn't predict the future.... To think that just because the Mayan calendar ends in 2012 means the end of the world is retarded. I can go look on my fridge now. 2010 Calendar... once december hits in this calendar.....it is finished...does that mean the world will end too?
Really, there is a chance that an immense solar flare will hit us any day now and end life as we know it. Not only that, but there is also a chance that a large, fast-moving piece of floating debris can hit us from space at any time. Really, it's a wonder how our planet has yet to go through any kind of natural event on the apocalyptic scale during this era of time. Truth be told though, avidly believing any kind of inane apocalypse theory is silly. I'm sorry but an ancient civilization can not predict the events that will succeed their time by centuries. Yes, I'm sure they were intelligent enough to navigate with the stars and calculate time, but can anyone logically explain how these people are able to credibly calculate such a thing?
If we can't predict the end of the world now, how would the mayans have been able to do it with so much less back then????
No. The solar flare thing is very non harmful to people. I cannot link ya to a vid, but I have seen interviews with NASA scientists explaining that we have been hit with some of the biggest solar flares there are and we are all doing just fine.
They probably just stopped making the calendar.. I mean, they made it way far past there time. How long do you expect it to go??
What you say contradicts a lot of what I've read, but we both fail to bring up evidence to back our statements up so I guess we'll let sleeping dogs lay . It is amazing to think how our planet has seen an apocalyptic variant of every natural disaster: 300 foot tsunami waves, volcanoes that have covered half the planet in plume and continent-creating earthquakes and yet, it has been relatively "quiet" lately in terms of natural disasters on the apocalyptic scale. There is no doubt we are due for one: whether it's going to be the devastating eruption of Yellowstone's dormant volcano or a freak earthquake along the San Andreas fault. The thing is though, we don't have a credible idea of when these things will happen and our ancestors from thousands of years ago certainly had even less of a clue.
Actually, Y2K had a lot more evidence than this crap. There was a real risk of the Y2K bug, no one knew what would happen to computers when they go from 99 to 00. It ended up not being a problem but the risk was real. The 2012 stuff is a bunch of crap that human beings make up. If I was to announce the apocalypse would happen in 2011, would that change anything? There's a 99.9% chance nothing will happen and in the case of the .1% something does happen, it will be irrelevant to any predictions.
