I picked up a used Mars 1600 for a great price off of the bay, it is in very good condition no leds are burned out and all switches work, The woman said it was used for 1 grow and she then went with an Amare. I plan to run 2-3 plants under her, I am looking for any insight or tips as to what to do or expect. Please no bashing, I have read some stories by the fanboys of other lights and realize the light I bought is older tech and prob/not as good as a quantum board, but hey that may be next. Oh and yes I am sorry, I have grown weed before under 1000W HPS & MH which work well but used lots of power and produced too much heat for my room.
My mars 300w is actually 111 watts if your lucky your light will actually draw 550 watts . You need 48 actual watts per square foot of your tent or grow space . If you were to use Samsung or another high quality grow light it would be 28 watts per square foot .
Hey Thanks I used a plug in watts meter and it says 780 actual watts on both bloom and veg I am in a 5x5 room well grow area, and I use to grow in a 10x10 with 2 1000watts HPS MH so I am sure there will be a difference this time around. I am looking to do only a few plants for me and family , no commercial grows in my future anymore. How you doing I saw you were pretty sick a while back, man good luck with that.
Still have my legs, walking around pretty good. Got a new Dog , German shepherd rescue dog ( 2 year old male ) He is a hand full . Thank you for asking Wow 780 watts , and out of a mars light .. Grats on the Dog , definitely need a good friend these to keep one cheered . The Mars II 1600 has been upgraded. There is no lens in front of leds. Also SMD design. But it is original SMD tech and it also has been stepped up in last year. Is it the one with lens or not?
I believe it has the lens, it was from the 1st Gen from when they 1st came out by your company. I remember a lot of high use was causing the drivers and LEDs to burn out and Mars changed them Yes? Pretty sure from what I was told this is an older version , like I said it is right after Mars released the 1600 for sale. Thanks again Still safe to use correct?
One other question, when you say lens you mean an actual lens on each diode correct and not the heavy glass covering them ?
Ya I just don't know how these LED grow light companies can make these Blurple lights . Shit just the Power suppliers I use are bigger and three times heavier then they're whole fucking light . Most of the time the power suppliers I use cost 3 times what those cheap ass falsely advertised grow lights run . Sounds like the mars 1600 Isn't a very reliable maybe you need to have some kind of back up lighting . Good luck .
I have 3 other HPS MH 2 1000 watt and a 600watt but they run very hot w/o AC running Wanted to try the Mars, got it super cheap.
Fully understand but I wouldn't want to have my plants life hanging on the balance of a cheap Chinese made falsely advertised grow light that is known for burning out . Glade you got back up , hope you don't have to use them . I going to buy some of those QB 96 elites
