Old soil dry new soil wet

  1. Did my new soils first notill and had to fold that grow with a pal due to his paranoia ..

no deficiency as was first run soil is still amending it’s self so I’d expect no till 2 to be better than 1 due to it composting amendments etc

my current till 6 soil showed some deficiency and I dried it out for 2 month by neglect

can I mix my new soil into my old ? If so at what ratio ?

  3. I believe the rate to use is 30% old mix when we recycle our no till medium.

  4. If you have some aloe or yucca, use some when you first rehydrate the blended soil. The old stuff will hydrate much easier.

  6. Is there a reason we use only 30% and don’t just make new ?
Like my guess would be the old micro life and fungi bacterias etc ?

  7. 30% will not make your new medium overly heavy. Your old medium is broken down by the soil biology living in it and thus becomes very dense. And yes, we recycle our old soil for the same reason, the mature soil biology.

  8. The roots also squeeze that shit together. Soil is like a sponge, squeeze it, get water out. Just the plants doing what they do.
