  1. I realised in the most influential guitar player poll that there just arent enough options for such a Broad topic as this,so Ill just pick 10 off the top of my head and wait for the killer additions from you guys. (Feel free to add bass player jokes at will)

    My Favorite Bassist is.......?

Q Do you know how a bass player gets into a party?

    A Follows the drummer

  2. I voted for Les Claypool, but that's only because I'm not on there.

    You forgot Stanley Clarke too...

  3. how can you not include jaco pastorious on a poll like this?

  4. Geddy Lee all the way!

I'd put Les Claypool a close second though

  5. John Paul Jones without a doubt.

  6. I'd probably rank Jones and Bonham as the best rhythm section ever! Go Zeppelin!

  7. Dude, wheres Jaco and Stanley Clark? They are two of the best bassists alive (right under Victor Wooten)

  8. techicallity wise and all i would have to go with vic Wooten, that guy is just amazing live its crazy...but like jammin and just groovin to some good tunes, eric wilson on bass from sublime...without a doubt

  9. my 2 favorite bass players are les claypool and geddy lee, they are both equally awesome.

  10. As awesome as Jones and Bonham are, and as much as I love them, I still think that Geddy Lee and Neil Peart are far and away the Greatest Rhythm section ever. Rush Rules!

  11. Did you guys ever see that episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force where Geddy Lee recorded a song with Shake, and when Shake didn't pay him, he showed up in a huge airplane shaped like a bass guitar?

    That was gnarly.

  12. One of my favorite lesser known bassists is Bobby Sheehan, who played with Blues Traveler until a drug overdose killed him in '99. He didn't quite get the chance to become known as a great musician, but if he had not died at an early point, he might be on that list. Check out Blues Traveler - Live at the Fall and you'll see what I'm talking about. He can really play!

  13. CLIFF BURTON, BITCHES!! :D

    -Timmy

  14. Flea anyone?? ... just a suggestion

  15. forgot about flea! some funky bass lines and a style to match

  16. les is fucking amazing, as well as flea.. why isn't flea on there!?!just some useful knowledge.. les does the song at the beginning of south park and that cartoon robot chicken.

  17. Umm... Jacos dead. Has been for a while. As a bass player myself i have to say the most talented would have to be Jaco. though his attitude was that of a pissed off 5 year old. In terms of all around good player (looks, attitude, style, talent) I would have to say either Vic or Les. Its a toss up between those two.

  18. Les never impressed me much. I tried to like him, and Primus for that matter...but alas.

I have heard Victor wooten and stuart hamm, and as far as technicallity, those guys can't be beaten. Vic's got a song with lead bass (more like guitar solo) and rhythm bass, thats fuckin awesome (you'd understand if you were a bassist:p). My fav is always gonna be Geddy though.

  19. my name is mud...ridiculous bass. mike from phish is pretty damn good also
