So recently on channel 6 news ive been seeing things on MMJ license coming to ohio :-D i flipped out and told all my friends amd family and they were like thata cool go calm yourself haha anyone have news or excited about the ballot in december? :-D all we need is the votes so we can smoke that little ole beauty :-D
I am. Did you know there are actually two bills up? One for medical legalization, and one for recreational. The recreational probably won't pass, but what if? I'm thinkin' medical will.
http://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2013/05/20/attorney-general-certifies-ohio-cannabis-rights-amendment http://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2013/05/03/moving-the-needle-on-legalizing-herb-in-ohio i dont see why recreational & medicinal both wouldnt pass. people are starting to realize how harmless it is. even in rural areas, you have people that you normally wouldnt expect to be in favor of legalizing...but alot of rural people "know some dopers that are really good kids." i am doubtful that the ORG will get the signatures they need. but thats fine. i dislike the language in their bill, anyways. it leaves too many things up in the air that the state will have to decide. i am more hopeful toward robert hagan's approach, even though i STRONGLY disagree with other political policies that aren't about weed. but ill leave that out of this for now. edit: this is what im talking about when i say i dont like hagan (news link below). hopefully he can get MMJ to pass, because im not voting for his ass when he runs for senate. the snake bastard. http://www.ohio.com/news/break-news/ohio-democratic-lawmakers-call-gun-bill-pro-life-1.408892 whatever way we can legalize it, lets do it. only a 15% tax? if i knew that my tax dollars were going directly & only for ohio DOE purposes, shit i wouldnt even have a problem with being taxed 25%!
OK, blades, time to get busy! You need to comment in the news and convince your conservatives that cannabis is NOT the "devil's weed with roots in hell"! To do that, you need to make it personal! Here are some little articles that should help! Everyone fears Alzheimer's! And look what WebMD has to say about THC! Marijuana May Slow Alzheimer's (news - 2006) http://www.webmd.com/alzheimers/news/20061006/marijuana-may-slow-alzheimers “THC blocks an enzyme called acetylcholinesterase, which speeds the formation of amyloid plaque in the brains of people with Alzheimer's disease. The Alzheimer's drugs Aricept and Cognex work by blocking acetylcholinesterase. When tested at DOUBLE the concentration of THC, Aricept blocked plaque formation only 22% as well as THC, and Cognex blocked plaque formation only 7% as well as THC.†Just give that quote and ask folks, if they had FREE CHOICE, which would THEY use, Aricept, Cognex, or THC from their garden? Breast cancer strikes 1 in 8 women. That means virtually every family will have a mother, sister, or daughter who will get it! Here cannabidiol, the #2, no high at all, compound from cannabis shines. Cannabidiol (CBD) has no real side effects beyond a feeling of calm! No high, no nausea, no hair loss.... NADA! When it was newly discovered, huge doses were injected in volunteers with no problems. Now read what happens when deadly "triple negative" breast cancer cells were exposed to CBD. Pot compound seen as tool against cancer (news – 2012) http://www.sfgate.com/health/article/Pot-compound-seen-as-tool-against-cancer-3875562.php#page-1 “When McAllister and Desprez exposed the cells to cannabidiol in a petri dish, the cells not only stopped acting "crazy" but they also started to revert to a normal state… The researchers stressed cannabidiol works only on cancer cells that have these high levels of ID-1 and these do not include all cancerous tumors but, rather, aggressive, metastatic cells. But they've found such high levels in leukemia, colorectal, pancreatic, lung, ovarian, brain and other cancers.†1 in 8 get breast cancer, but there are those other cancers to consider, too. What are the odds of avoiding all of them? Could a few injections directly into a tumor be the future cure for aggressive ID-1 cancers? Then hot off PubMed comes this little goodie! It is just on mice, but it seems that just a TINY bit of THC can lessen heart attack damage for 48 hours! An ultra-low dose of tetrahydrocannabinol provides cardioprotection. (abst – 2013) http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23537701 "CONCLUSION: A single ultra low dose of THC before ischemia is a safe and effective treatment that reduces myocardial ischemic damage." So if a person were to have just a puff every other day, the THC will help protect their heart! THC also affects atherosclerosis build up, which is a risk factor in heart disease....and again, it is a low dose thing! Low dose oral cannabinoid therapy reduces progression of atherosclerosis in mice. (full - 2005) http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v434/n7034/full/nature03389.html Marijuana Chemical Fights Hardened Arteries (news - 2005) http://www.webmd.com/heart-disease/news/20050406/marijuana-chemical-fights-hardened-arteries Pick one of those (or get a copy of my List and pick your own- see the bottom of my sig) and make it personal! Almost everyone has a family member that has Alzheimer's. cancer or suffered a heart attack! Please remember that Yahoo News censors the word cannabis, but if you type CANNAB, then a lower case "L" and then your "S", it will slip right by the censor! Also the words medical and marijuana are considered a "cuss word" is they touch. Use "medical use of marijuana" or do the "i" to "L" trick. It has the advantage of making the words stand out, too! If your comment gets even one "thumbs up", you have WON! You have shared the knowledge! Education is how we will get cannabis legalized in Ohio, and elsewhere! Once the medical facts about cannabis become known, the need for legalization becomes obvious! Get busy! Granny
