Theres alot of those things in the swamps and marshes around me
Here's the best I could find on Size vs age:

"Alligators reach breeding maturity at about 6 to 10 years of age, at which time they are about 6 to 7 feet long. From then on, growth continues at a slower rate. The oldest males may grow to be 16 feet long and weigh up to 1,200 pounds during a lifespan of 30 or more years."



Sounds like your gator was over 10 years, and maybe alot more than that if growth truly does slow. That was a big mug. 10-11 feet?! Holy shit.

 

Reminds me of when I lived in Florida. Gators, Snakes, and Peacocks.

Dude that is sketchy a gator can run 30 mph. Or at least that's what they said on swamp people.
