  1. Ok. I've been itching to hit up Amsterdam for some time. I always dreamed of it in high school but could never afford something like that and I wasn't old enough at the time.

I've been planning a trip out for a couple weeks to take place from Jan. 2 - Jan. 16. This will be a 2 week 14 days and 13 nights extravaganza. Needless to say I'm very excited to finally make my trip to the motherland. So I've been scouring the travel sites like Travelocity, Priceline, and Expedia.

Priceline offered me this gem tonight.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel
    \t
    Package Price: $2038/person
Total Price for 1 person: $2038
    (Price includes taxes and fees)

the very heart of Amsterdam, between the Central Station and Dam Square, is the location of the Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel, a deluxe hotel where you will feel immediately at home. The 17th century domed 'Koepelkerk', our conference facility, is located opposite the hotel. A historical landmark that can accommodate from 10 up to 700 guests.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

TripAdvisor rates the hotel at 4/5 and the hotel is rated at 4 Stars. According to my map of pot shops, this hotel is PERFECT. It has a freaking sublime location.

So what we have here is a roundtrip ticket, 2 weeks at a 4 star hotel, and a sweet location that would put me exactly where I want to be. Mind you this trip is not just for drugs and hookers. I have every intention of absorbing every ounce of culture and learning everything I can from what Amsterdam has to offer be it the Anne Frank House or the Van Gogh Museum. The only catch is that if I book the trip now it is not refundable or exchangeable or anything. If something happens to me and I can't go on the trip or whatever then I'm out two grand.

But the longer I wait to book the higher the prices will get. I almost have 2000 in cash right now. I have like...lemme see..$1400 alltogether. The remaining 600 is like a week's worth of work for me easy.

Seriously, this is *very* tempting right now. But I still owe like 4 grand on my Acura. THE DECISIONS.

  2. i dont know about if that price is right or not, but so what. GO!! ha ha. it would be an amazing trip...plus youre going to spend SO much time there. you have from now till then to save up spending money. sucks that you still owe 4 grand for your car, but you know what? its gonna take forever to pay that down anyway, once you do, who knows you might not get the chance to go anyway. maybe you shouldnt listen to me...i have some debt problems...ha ha. but i would go, seriously. then you gotta promise to tell us all about it and show some pics!!

  3. shit, i would pay my car off first get everything out of the way, and just be on the easy road, just work save a lil money here and there...within the next couple years you will be there...btw, how much is the plain ticket?

  4. I'd take it!

Just have a good bit saved for the coffeeshops, thank god it's only 5 euro's a gram.

  5. where do you come from, that doesn't seem too bad a price, considering it's a 4 star hotel........but i know that my American friends allways get humped for flight prices............try doing it seperate, i went for 4 days at $35 per night in a 3 star, and $150 for a flight from Scotland............it sometimes works cheaper flying into London, and then switching planes to a local company like Easyjet...........$150 from Scotland, but sometimes it's as cheap as $30-40 from London.............Peace out........Sid

here's a few links that may help you..........

  6. did a quick search on easyjet, you can get a return flight from London Stanstead airport to Schipol on the 2nd Jan and come back on the 16th Jan for £34.98, that's like $60-70 including all taxes................search for the room seperate, and a get a flight to the U.K..........we can get flights to the U.S. say like NY and Florida for about £200-300, that's about $370-500, 550??................so say the prices i paid, $35 x 14 = $490 accomodation + flight =$70 + main flight to the U.K = $550 = a total of about $1047

i just think you could do it cheaper, but don't quote me on it, as i don't know U.S. flight prices to London, but i bet it's cheaper than Schipol!!...............Peace out...........Sid

  7. The price I was quoted included a round trip ticket straight to Schipol from the airport that's like 15 minutes away from my house.

I mean to be honest, Two thousand dollars doesn't really seem like a bad deal to me for a round trip ticket to Amsterdam and 2 weeks at a 4 star hotel. That seems like a good deal to me, and all the other companies have yet to give me a deal that good. I might take it, man I don't know what to do.

I do still owe like 4 grand on my car but I could probably have that paid off by summer or end of september if I busted my hump. I might just try to pay it off quick as I can then start saving for the trip immediatley.

  8. Also keep in mind that I'm 19 and work as a delivery guy. I make like 25 grand a year and don't have a single bill to pay. This is one of those short periods of life where I'm earning a lot of money but don't have much to spend it on outside of major things like my car. I figure now is a good a time as any to make this trip. That and I've never been on an airplane before or even out of this country. Oh man I need to do this. What about going alone? Would that be boring? Anyone else wanna come with me? :smoke:

  9. Sounds like a fun time, but I would try to get some people to go with me if I were you. I'd love to go, but I'm totally broke. Being 19 and on your own sorta sucks when it comes to cash.

  10. so you're lexus_rolla but you got an acura?

  11. Hah! Toushe. (sp?)

I stole this name from someone else when I was 13 and playing Rainbow six online. I basically make all my forum/email names the same so I don't to remember 30 diff names. I do change the passwords up though.

Man my broke ass can't afford no Lexus. I wish. Even the pizza dude has his limits!

  12. NO FUCKING WAY DUDE!!! I USED TO PLAY THAT GAME ALL THE TIME 6 YEARS AGO WITH THE NAME LEXUS_ROLLA!!!! HOLY FUCK. HOW WIERD IS THIS?!

kidding..blazed..sounded funny at the time =D:smoke:

  13. Check with a couple travel agencies... You may be able to plan your entire trip for $2,000 and get more than just a hotel and a flight over and back... Just throwing out some more options for ya... :)

  14. yeah just look through travel agencies and see if you can find a really good offer, but i suggest really working your ass off so you dont have to deal with debt for longer than you need to

and then just have a great time in amsterdam

  15. this is nice guys look at the poll results. nobody dissents how nice.

  16. think your spending too much just for amsterdamtheres plenty of cheap nice oplaces to stay and the cost of things arent too bad i mean you can smoke weed to your hearts content there well i do anyway but i think 2 weeks there is far too much i want to come home after a weekend there too many seedy people hanging around but its a great laugh still!

  17. yeah 2 weeks would be too much, better to go there and say maybe travel on the cheap by train to say Paris, or Berlin, maybe Austria too, or Italy...............Peace out.............Sid

  18. Lexus I'm basically in the same boat as you, Im 21, have alot of money and no expenses. I want to go to Amsterdam but Im not sure if i want to go all alone, and I cant pay for someone else to go with me. Depending on if we go at the same time we could meet up in amsterdam, unless you live near Maryland.

  19. You need to go!

You also need to visit Prix D'ami and Route 99 (opposite) on haringpakkerssteeg which is close to the station, they are my favourite coffeeshops in amsterdam anyway

    map

But if you're up for a mission and want the best though you need to get a train to the hague and find coffeeshop ceylonica on westeinde, you'd have to ask some people though because it's pretty hard to find, when im in the netherlands i usually go there to get 5g of super silver haze for 40€, personally i think it beats any of the bud you buy in amsterdam :p

  20. Id get your shit paid off, then go my friend
