Earl is pretty much the only one I could stand, although I haven't listened to every single member's shit. Btw not trying to be a dick but search is your friend... there are like 27 threads every week on this group alone.

they're dope. theyre doing something thats never been done before in hip hop, they have a really unique style, and the best part is after they blew up and got famous they didnt sell out and change their style like most rappers do tyler is extremely talented as a rapper and as a producer. and earl sweatshirt is (was) insane lyrically till his mom shipped him off.
Dont laugh at me, but what does Ofwgkta stand for? seems like something my cat would spell while walking on my keyboard.
They're better than what's playing now, this whack ass panzy west coast dance crazy shit. But they're not the first of the style, listen to MF Doom. EDIT: I meant Tyler is similar to MF Doom, my bad.
odd future wolf gang kill them all (dont give a fuck). and for those hating: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EGMQtzpy3M]Tyler, The Creator & Earl Sweatshirt - AssMilk - YouTube[/ame] tyler produced this as well as rapped on it. and earl was 16 when he wrote/recorded this its very stylized, but like i said its never been done before and they arent selling out now that theyre famous
Dig more, everything they've done has been done. I'm not saying they're not creative, I believe art is built off of old art, but they're not doing something that has "never been done before in hip-hop", don't fool yourself. As for changing their style, I haven't really listened to their new stuff but Yonkers seems different to me than the mixtapes I heard however long ago. Like the energy they had was sucked out and left with just morose emo babble. And yes, suicidal emo-esque hip hop has been done before too AssMilk is a dope song in it's own right but going back and forth between contrasting lyrical content isn't new and neither is contrasting flows/voices. I like the though.
It really hasn't been done before dude. I get tired of people who compare OF rappers (specifically tyler/earl) to eminem, tech n9ne, mf doom, etc. And Tyler made the beat for yonkers and directed the video that won the award, and its definitely true to his style. The album he is working on right now is going to be made with beats that he's been making since he was like 16. As for the lyrical content, its not just "morose semi-suicidal emo babble." what makes OF cool/idfferent is the unique production and the wordplay, alliteration, and rhyme structure of the lyrics. and i know there are tons of songs with contrasting lyrical content going back and forth, hell this summer em and royce dropped a whole album of that shit, and that album was top notch. i just posted AssMilk for people that havent heard much OF to listen to because you get to hear Tyler and Earl (2 best rappers from OF) and you get to hear typical OF style production.
Never really gave all of them a listen, but I really like Frank Ocean. Goblin is a pretty awesome album, as well. I really like Odd Future though. Musically, and because of how much they piss people off. I'm in support of anything that gets the general public's panties in a twist.
Okay, a few things to address with this post.... They've been "famous" for less than a year, there is PLENTY of time for them to sell out, so that's a completely obsolete point to make. Secondly, what, exactly, are they doing that's never been done before? People have used gimmicks before, so it can't be that. Shock value goes back a good twenty years, so that's off the list as well. Using age as a marketing tool has been done to DEATH, so that leaves me wondering, what are you talking about? I know your mindlessly dickriding them, but I'd love to hear what they're doing that is SO original, because I just don't see it.
Im a fan. i have bastard, earl, rolling papers, and blackendwhite. I am happy for their fame and the fact that they are growing as artist, but i havent been into them as much lately. reasons for this are goblin. it had a few good songs. I was incredibly excited for the album when i heard a snippet of tron cat. but as a whole i was kind of disappointed. when he first started making music he was all about saying what he wants and not giving a fuck about what people think, but on goblin Tyler, clearly concerned with criticism, is attempting to set the agenda for his new audience — that is, anyone outside of his circle. This time it's not about provocation and inside joking, but about forging a top-down relationship between himself and his listeners. He's telling us it's okay to like his music, because it's a joke. Don't take this seriously. It's fantasy, simulation. It's just youth, just entertainment. In other words, Tyler wants it all: to be taken seriously, but not be completely serious about his approach; to be successful, but successful on his own terms; to criticize everything and everyone, but to do anything he can to avoid being criticized himself. To me that kind of takes away a lot of tylers appeal. the fact that there were some people who didnt understand that he was saying shit about rape and murder because they take shit too seriously. its like hes trying to let those people know that hes not really about that so he can win them over. also i know there isnt much they can do about it, but it sucks that earl is gone. his album is probably my favorite OF release, and having a lack of him in the group sucks to put it simple. he was the best rapper, and motivated other members around him (especially tyler, who even said it was a lot more fun to rap with earl) to step up their lyrics. and knowing hes gonna be in samoa for a long ass time is a let down. and whats with hodgy and left brain taking shots at asap rocky? mellowhype is cool as hell, but they were getting all bitchy and saying he swagger jacked them because he was wearing the same supreme towel that left brain has in his video. come on man thats childish. But yeah overall im an of fan, but they just havent lived up to their potential as of late. grats to tyler on his award. he did deserve it. edit: tyler also said he was planning on just focusing on the production because hes bored of rap. i think he was running out of stuff to rap about.
