Hey grasscity I just bought this at Walmart for 10 bucks: My grow area is relatively small, only 36 cubic feet or so. How much do you think this will help? I've got 12 seeds coming from Attitude... 5x SLH, 2x Kannabia seeds, and a bunch of Dutch Passion freebies, including Blueberry and White Widow. I'm only planning on growing 4 plants at a time as i only have a 150W HPS. Also, i know the directions say to just "place in area where needed", but where in the grow area do you think this thing would work the best?
Honestly ive never tried those, but cant imagine its going to work well. I know the goal is to be cost effective, but skimping on odor control can cause you to get busted... so IMO its worth it to be overkill in this area. FIRST - Consider where you live Apartment complex with people above/below/on the side of you? Your own house miles from people? Makes a big difference. SECOND - Wheres the grow room in your place? Basement? Attic? Bedroom closet? Hall closet? Is it close to any openings like front door, windows, etc? Is the grow room centrally located, or more towards the outside of your place? If you are only growing 4 plants at a time, what about getting a "grow tent" - under $100 or you could build one from PVC or 2x4 if you are crafty. This will help create an envelope... instead of trying to control almost 300 cubic feet of air, youre working with say 50-75 cubic feet. Youll be able to hookup a small carbon filter and fan combo that wont break the bank... its also cheaper to heat up a small space vs a big space. You shouldnt have to worry about the smell for a few weeks though...
Besides the questions posted above ... There is a DIY about using a bucket of ONA gel with a fan blowing thru it ...
Ya looks like a knockoff Ona product, you can poke some holes in the top and just leave it be or create a bucket with fan attached to the top, but that uses it up faster. I would wait until it gets real stinky in there because those things only last around a month to 1.5 tops.
I got the ONA liquid from my hydro store for like 16 dollars, I dump that into some gel water crystals that cost about 10, and bam, complete odor neutralization, very cheap. I use the bucket method, very effective.
