Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

  1. Has anyone been diagnosed? Share your thoughts and views.

I am pretty sure I have it, I've been reading about it for a while now. Researching online, this site matches everything with me:

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD): Symptoms, Behavior, and Treatment

Also, I have other specific OCD behaviors that I could link and prove I have OCD. I am saying I have self diagnosed myself with OCD. Possible? Is OCD something I could have a MMJ legal state approve me for mmj?

  2. You probably have obsessive personality disorder, or your a hypochondriac

  3. if you think you have a mind disorder, you will

  4. ever noticed how some people actually get a bit obsessive compulsive wondering whether or not they have OCD tendancies?

  5. I've actually self - diagnosed my self with OCD, I Know i have it because my mind forces me to think about so many stupid things and i have to do things and everything has to be perfect and shit, theres alot of shit that i know i have OCD. It's like mild tho.

  6. I had it for a few years in middle school. I kind of grew out of it though.

  7. im a perfectionist too but that doesnt mean i have OCD

There are a bunch of stories with people who found MMJ useful in treating their OCD but you might want to actually see a therapist before you diagnose yourself with OCD. Obsessive-compulsive disorder isn't just doing weird quirky things.

  9. I know, but I tend to follow along with many parts of OCD.

  10. I'm not an expert or anything, but I think many people have mild OCD tendencies. Myself included.

I have some rather bizarre and pointless "rituals" that I feel like I have to do, but luckily at this point in time it's not bad enough to really interfere with my life at all.

People who have true full-blown OCD have it bad. It can totally interfere with even the most simple parts of your day. Like the people who have to wash their hands 6 times whenever they touch something or walk in and out of a doorway 3 times before they enter a room.
That's some OCD for ya. ;)

Honestly, unless it's to the point where you're like "this is really fucking with my life and I need help" then you're probably just doing what most people on the internet do these days and trying to match a medical disorder with your personal quirks. :p

(I mean no offense by that either, I do the same thing myself sometimes. :bongin:)

  11. Was diagnosed a few years ago, it's not so bad right now, but I do happen to notice new tendencies pop up from time to time. It causes me pretty bad anxiety when something new pops up and I'm not sure how to deal with it. It's definitely controllable and I've even overcome a number of tendencies by sheer determination. I think it's worse being diagnosed with OCD than not. If anyone is like me, it causes more grief than anything because you start to worry whether or not you have more habits than you know or when a new one might pop up. I swear, 5 years ago I was happy go lucky with a couple tendencies, and now I'm anxiety filled a couple times a month and I've become a little bit of a hypochondriac. Feels bad man....

  12. I feel as If I can't feel the anxiety come on, it just happens.

I find myself catching myself in the act of doing some OCD symptom all the time. Lately I will just out of no where realize im chewing my fingers, so I stop. Self diagnosis is like self treatment in a way to me. If I feel I have this, and I can remind myself, I may quit...

A few years ago it was where I check things repeatedly. Now I am going through a dermatillomania and anti-social stage.

It's hard to "find" what triggers my symptoms, again this is all self diagnosis. So I can't really tell when its affecting me, all I know is I fit under many symptoms.

And I know I have social anxiety, and dermatillomania, and I used to have lots of "check" obessions. Now its majorly social anxiety, I fit the description exactly.

  13. youre way overthinking yourself

  14. I'm thinking the same thing. Just because you chew on your fingers doesn't mean you're OCD. I do that when I'm bored. Don't take bored or nervous habits as OCD tendencies. You'd know if you actually have it.

A lot of people over think any repetitive habits they might have as OCD. It's pretty simple to dismiss at that point. If I were you, I'd try to stay clear of medical websites. They can make someone who has nothing wrong with them think they have something wrong. A lot of people exhibit symptoms of many different anxieties, syndromes, etc... Only way to really know is to go see a specialist. Someone who can confirm whether or not these issues are really inflicting you. I'm not someone who's big on psychiatrists or psychologists, but they generally know what to look for to determine whether or not someone is suffering from something. So if you think you have something (rather than convincing yourself you do), go see a specialist. Confirm it. Don't waste your time finding out you have every textbook psychological syndrome because you have a symptom.

  15. This is how it is for me. My mind makes me think about stuff, sometimes I will get an urge to say touch something or brush up against it. And I feel like I have to. I guess its just acute OCD. Whatevs
