Objective Only - Effects of Edibles and Working Out

Discussion in 'Fitness, Health & Nutrition' started by Rs1896, Mar 23, 2016.

  1. I have recently been experimenting with working out after eating edibles (mild high). There are lots of posts out there that seem to be a bit too biased or stereotyped with responses for both sides.

What are everyone's thoughts on its effects on your workout?

So far this is what I have found

-Mood > relaxed going into workouts, enjoy listening to music while lifting. Focus can be hit or miss

-Cardio (Indoor Cycling) > My endurance seems to be improved and higher resistance seems easier to manage but my top end speed seems bit harder to get to.

    - Lifting > This is where I have heard the largest variety of answers. I feel like for safety reasons you are limited to more simple lifts (no power cleans ect.). Lifts for weight 6 reps or less hasn't improved while my weight and Rep volume for 8 reps or more has improved greatly.

Pain Management and Recovery- This seems to be the biggest improvement. My knee pain is gone during and after lifts. Appetite is good for post workout meals (can be an issue if you can't stick to your diet though) and sleep comes easy even after late night lifts.

  2. For me it depends on the edible and my current motivation. Some edibles I barely notice, some give me an energetic buzz, others make me drowsy, I just have to know beforehand the effects before I would use before workout. I think high CBD is great for workout focus and energy. Weed shouldn't affect gains if your diet and lifting is on point. I think the biggest thing with weed on heavy lifts is that you need to know what you are expecting to be able to lift. If my programming tells me I will be making a 5 lb increase this week, then I put it on and push for it, there's always the safety bars. I think pot can help with form as it slows the mind down and forces it to think and focus on the task at hand.
