Obama Considers Strategy in Afghanistan

  1. What percentage of Obama supporters are actually "progressives", or even politically active? As far as I'm concerned, a large majority of Obama supporters don't really care about foreign or economic policy, it's all about the feel-good social policy.

"They" are the corporate liberal news networks and blogosphere. I don't think "they" are capable of being outraged at Obama, because like I said, that would then mean they are racist. You guys REALLY want Obama to succeed, and expressing outrage would be akin to submitting defeat to the goons of the lunatic fringe.

I think that very few actual progressives voted for Obama, because anybody who actually thought critically and looked at the man, how he voted and who was giving him money would have known that he was basically Bush III.

In my mind, a progressive is against war in general. I think Obama got the vote of those liberals out there who tow the party line more or less, and while they may express some vaguely anti-war or anti-bailout sentiments, they end up voting for the candidate who is pro-war, pro-bailout(s) and anti-freedom.

I don't want to say most, but a fair amount of Obama supporters; I hate to say it but I know it's true - voted for him because he's part black, and that they'd be "making history" with his election.
They probably knew none of what he actually stood for. Actual, real-life "progressives" noticed pretty quickly that Obama may be eloquent, but he is Bush Lite; and they probably supported Nader, the Greens or some socialist party, or even Ron Paul in his place.

Or, of course, as around a third of Americans did, they simply did not turn out to vote.
