Anyone else hear this? : I heard from a less-than-reputable source that Oakland, CA has just legalized MJ. I researched it and found nothing to support this, just that Oakland passed a bill regarding MJ tax for the medical MJ they're growing. Has anyone else heard anything to support the theory that MJ is legal ANYWHERE in North America?
No. Oakland now has a $50/ounce tax on the MMJ. It has NOT been legalized. However, they are pushing to legalize marijuana and it will probably appear on the November 2010 ballot here in California.

It's not $50 an ounce, its a 1.8% MMJ 'sales tax' (a gross receipts tax, actually). $18 for every $1000 sold.
