Nys: Medical Marijuana Legalization Bill Passed By State Senates Health Committee For The First Time

Discussion in 'Cannabis News & Industry Updates' started by garrison68, May 22, 2014.

  1. Well this bill is very strict, but it's a start.  It still has a couple of hurdles to pass before it's the law.

  2. God. Can the news stations stop calling it "pot"? Such a low class trashy name for cannabis.

  3. They'll always call it pot because it makes it sound as worse as possible. I just hate when veteran stoners still call it pot.

"She said the bill “would create the tightest, most-regulated program in the nation.”

The legislation, for example, would require that every pot plant have a bar code to make “impossible to divert this into the black market,” Savino said.

And it would restrict to 20 the number of concerns that would be licensed to grow the pot."

This sucks. Why do we have to do the same process over and over again in every state. We first start out with a highly regulated, controlled, strict law, then we slowly make it better over time. Why do we have to do this still. Colorado and Washington have proved that this can work in states and that it's time to end this bullshit. Im tired of this slow tired system of legalization. People need to speak out about this because the prohibitionists no longer have an argument when it comes to this issue

  5. I think the veterans call it that still because that's what they called it back in the 60's all the way to the 90's. Only word that's worse than "pot" is "dope". Seriously, if you still call weed "dope", you need to be bitch slapped

The term "dope" is used affectionately, and in a humorous way.  Why does everything have to be so serious?

  7. Never heard anyone ever use that word, except my parents lol

  8. The bar code system is used in Colorado already and works. Not sure why its bad. As for only having a select few places growing that is bad. Wonder what else is in the bill. Would love to read it...

  9. "Dope" is a word that was used for stuff that is addictive, it was adopted for weed.  Dealer McDope was a popular underground comix character, and the word was used by others, such as the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, for weed and other non-addictive drugs.  High Times frequently used the word also.

  10. Its the "highly regulated and strictest in the nation" part that really bothered me. Why? Is there even a need for it anymore? Is cannabis a completely new substance that sprung up outta nowhere? Do we not know much about it? Of course not. It's been around for thousands of years and we know plently about it. The only reason why we still have this "tightly controlled and strict" bullshit is because politicians are stalling the legalization process

  11. Its to help with the black market. Every retailer has to follow some law in some way, why should cannabis be exempt? That's rhetorical. I get what your saying but time is on our side. The old bastards are on there way out sooner or later one way another.

  12. Lol it doesn't change my own personal opinion that I think it's a bad word for weed. Dope also means heroin. We don't want stupid people mixing them up, do we?

BTW, I like your profile pic. Godzilla was pretty damn good. Anyone who hasn't watched it yet really should go.

  13. What I mean is that the days of medical marijuana are over. We now know that weed is good for medicinal and recreational use and that there is no need for "medical only" bills anymore. We have the facts on our side. What do the politcians have on their side? Outdated myths and emotional tactics. The gig is up. The fight is over, but not to them.

  14. Well it's only a word, the absurdity of the Reefer Madness mentality is best dealt with by laughing at it.   If you're going to use the word dope, for weed, then usually it's done in a way that the listener knows what you mean, ie. "Smokable dope".

I'll see Godzilla when it's on DVD, not in 3D at the theaters, it doesn't work for me.

  15. Seeing movies on the big screen is the best in my opinion. I saw Godzilla opening day. It's kicking ass in the box office also, my theater was loaded with people. Some people sat on the floors. Pretty crazy
