So.. if older sets of leaves are going yellow/dying (NOT nute burned) using half strength nutrients (in soil) does that mean I should up the nutrients? Are there any leaf signs clearly that show under-overfert? Or any way to tell?
What stage of the plant are you in? Veg? Early flowering? Deep into flowering? The "older leaves" showing yellowing signs are on the base of the plant? In the middle? In the top? All along the plant?
They just started flowering, I'm about a week and a half in. First set of leaves went yellow=>tan crispy and dead Haven't been paying much attention to them, just checked underside of plant and saw dead 1 pointers and I didn't know why.. I don't have any deficiencies of any kind, the plants are 100% happy and healthy (check pics in sig) I'm just wondering if I need to up the ferts
When flowering, the plant will drive it's energy upwards for the development of buds. It's expected to whiter lower leaves along the way. You're probably fine. From time to time, the lower ones will wither and die, all along the watchtow... I mean, the flowering. If the upper is healthy and giving buds, it's normal.
1) I was never concerned for my plants 2) No, from time to time the lower ones are not supposed to do if you are doing everything right. I have had NUMEROUS grows that I finished with the FIRST set of leaves STILL on the plant. Only time the leaves should ever not be green is when you are flushing and the plant is using up its nutrient reserves in the fan leaves. Back to the topic here. Looking for nutrient capacity signs, ex: leaf angles, drooping, excessive perkyness, leaf texture, leaf necrosis/yellowing... something along those lines. I want to up my dosage of nutrients but I don't want to burn my ladies in flowering. I don't have a nutrient feeding schedule for these ferts and I was wondering if anyone had a visual check I could do to see how the plants were nutrient-level wise.
If i'm not mistaken first week and half of flowering your plant is in its stretch phase. And most nut schedules at least the fox farm one that i use tells you to add more nutrients at this time to sustain the plant through. What strain are you growing?
Alright thanks man, thats exactly what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure. +rep growing strawberry cough, silver haze (not worried about that yet) and a cross of my own.
