Nutrient Deficiency?

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by OptimusKryme, Dec 29, 2018.

  1. Hey guys,

I have a Blue cheese girl who's having issues. I have been following the nute guide for the general hydroponics fertilizer trio I'm using. The plant is about 5 weeks old (I've been trying to SCROG it.) PH is around 6.0. I've been seeing light stripes on the leaves. And some leaves deteriorating.

Does anyone with a Keen eye see what's going on?[IMG][IMG][IMG]

  2. Following GH's nute strength recommendations will increase GH's profits, at the expense of your plant.
Many hydro growers use 1/4 - 1/2 the recommended dose.
I think you have nute burn, or might need CalMag, and it's likely to get worse.
My very first grow was using GH trio full strength, and my leaves started looking a lot like yours.

  3. I’m using gh trio as well, are you growing in coco?? I had a similar issue. Looks like a calcium as well as slight magnesium deficiency. I started adding 1tsp/gallon of calmag supplement and things cleared up. It’s also good to mix up the ph levels at which you feed because both calcium and magnesium have different optimal ph levels for use! If things get really bad you can do your regular feed with calmag for one feeding then water with calmag the next and alternate until things clear up. That is, if you are growing in coco.

  4. I'm actually growing in a hydro DWC. I believe it might be cal/mag, or my PH tester might be off. I've drained the nute solution and used about half the GH recommended. I've also added 1tsp per gallon of Cal/mag. I guess time will tell.

  5. Ah ok, my bad. From what I understand hydro and coco are very similar. The leaves still kind of look like calcium and magnesium issues to me but I’d hate to give you any advice that could potentially mess up your grow. I’m going to try a bubble bucket next grow just to mix things up. I hope all works out for you though!

  6. I nearly had a grow go bad because of an out of calibration pH pen.
What I thought was 6.0 was actually 4.5.
Those pens must be frequently calibrated and checked against drops, strips, or a 2nd pH pen.

  7. Fucking truth!!!!! Happened to me twice, makes you lose all faith in yourself.. you do all the right things and stuff still goes to shit. ALL to find out your ph pen is out of calibration.

  8. 6.0 is a little high for dwc. Try 5.7~ and don't use full strength ferts. If you have a ppm meter, run half strength and see where it starts. If it is say 700ppm and after a day the water has dropped and then reads higher a ppm it means the plant has used more water than nutes. So when you refill you would want to lower the ppm. If on the other hand the ppm drops as the water is used then you would raise the ferts. Kind of a balancing act.

  9. I honestly don't know what to do. I've tried all suggestions and it keeps getting worse. Any help? I'm at a complete loss... I've done 5 hydro grows just like this and never had this issue. I've got another, younger GG#4 that is starting to show yellow too.[IMG]
