Nutes?

  1. Well I've seen a lot of talk about nutes. I ordered my seeds yesterday, and well for the past week I've basically been reading everything possible...I've been doing my research :hello:. I really hope for my first grow it'll go ok. The most common error I've seen so far is people that use pre-fertilized soil when sprouting. Anyways, back to my question...I've yet to read anything on what nutes are exactly so well, what are they?

  2. Nutes = Nutrients:rolleyes:

    Nutes is basically fertiliser....

Obviously nutes are very important if growing hydroponically, as the plant can't get what it needs from the soil.

As for the soil, young seedlings shouldn't have any nutrients added to the soil until they are a few weeks old. Once they have grown up a bit the plant will do better if given the nutrients it needs to survive.

Most potting mixes have a fertiliser in the soil, so you don't have to add your own. Unfortunatly this is not good for Pot......
Becasue Pot is a complex plant it needs two different stages of nutrients.
One formula for the growth period
and another for the bloom/flowering period

Theres heaps of info on what nutes to use for what period.
Nutes usually come in liquid form and can be purchased from hydro shops (for the decent stuff) or a good nursery.

Hope this has quenched your thirst for knowledge.
    Cheers Mate !:smoking:

  3. Ohh alrighty, I'll search around...thanks! :)

  4. Or grow your own top notch organic fert. See my thread on Russian Comfrey based fert.

  5. Hi Shad4ows nutrients most people start there young seedling off in a soil based mix or rockwool pellets untill they get a root system its important you dont feed the young plants anything but ph correct water ie ph 5.7 to 6.5 range you can get ph up or down at most garden centres to correct your tap water +always let the water stand for bout 24 hours to let any chemicals disapate and water must be room temp so you dont shock the plants m8.as for your nutrients after about 2 or three weeks the young plant has used most of its own nutrients up so during the growing stage you should feed a diluted grow based nute high in nitrogen(ie 1ml per litre of correct ph water) which is what the plant requires most of during its early vegitave state if your growing in coco meduim make sure you choose the right nutrient for that meduim for better results,i like organic nutrients and not the chemical type ,advanced nutrients do a good range and offer advice on use .
nutrients can come in many different forms from powders to liquids to be added to water and fed to plants soil or meduim ,never over feed nutrients thinking the more you feed the better the outcome ,less is better as far as nutrients are concerned specially during the first month just under what they say on directions. Burning leaves nutrient lock ups and over watering, these are common problems when the plant cant utilise the nutrient cos theres to much in soil or meduim so it locks it up.

AS far as the flowering stage is concerned the plant require different strenths and types of nutrients in order to produce flowers ,fruit etc.
The plants then need more pottasium and phosper as well as a little nitrate ,its made easier cos it usually tell you on bottle that it is BLOOM///obviously GROW for the veg state ..
when your about 10 days from harvesting your crop you stop using all nutrients and just water ,4 days before you crop give no water at all ..

Nutrient companys like :bio-bizz,advanced nutrients, ionic, all seem to be good companys ,for total organic nutrients that you mix your self you need somebody who knows the correct ammounts to use ,ie, bat guana, potash, soil mix, vermiculate ,perlite etc.

hope this helped a little anyway ,just dont get to complicated with nutrients if its your first grow ,talking from expierence:wave:

  6. Justs a visual i took ages ago, showing the bloom bottle and the grow bottle and a few other things. I'm not saying use this brand or anything but you get the idea now..... I know it says for hydro but if you look at the bottom it's ok for soil as well (just in slightly less amounts)
