Nute company preference

  1. I have 7 seedlings all under 3 weeks old that I need to go and purchase nutes and accessories for.I guess what I am looking for is what has worked best for you is there a company that you prefer over others if you were going to go and get most of the stuff you would need what would it be i.e pH up down blood meal everything under the Sun.I know I'm asking a lot, but if you could also share maybe what site you get it from that's the cheapest um that would be really helpful. I am going to go to my local hydro shop and get some of the cheaper stuff like pH up & down, stuff like that but I figure I may look on Amazon also just to have everything ship from a centralized location but I don't mind buying from 10 different sites if I had to do that to save some cash.any and all information will be greatly appreciated I have gotten tremendous amounts of invaluable advice from this site to research and posts so thank you for your input.

  2. Bio-Bizz. Just got it from my hydro store though so not sure about online?

  3. ph up and down ? are u growing in water? As PH up and down is only for hydro growers, i dont know how that rumor got started to use it in soil . but dont , unless u got hard or bad water.

Anyhow about the nutes if u understand the NPK scale of weed during veggie and flowering stage u can just use any basic stuff , I use cheap off name brand nutes and I always get a great yield , just make sure u have more NP during veggie then K and more PK then N for flowering and u can use whatever u like . just make sure its not too high or to low . normal range is like this
    just an example :
    Veggie : 7-6-3
    flowering: 2-5-8

  4. Don't use ph up and down with soil??? ^ alright mate. Unless you tap water is spot on then yeh, you wanna use it. And try get well tested nutes, don't make a mistake that somebody has already made. Google the better products.

  5. May I ask how many grows have u done in soil before to be so sure of this PH up down thing?
Maybe I'm completely wrong and I should have been putting chemical PH up and down in my plants all these years .

Anyhow Feel free to verify the above information with experienced growers .

  6. ive tried many nutes and currently sudjest advanced nutes, simple/easy to use alot of it is ph perfect. and it works wonders. a bit spendy but if you can afford it it will pay for itself.

1 thing that took me a few to learn was to take advantage of the ph perfectness you have to run proper ppms :)

  7. ive grown for years and hell yea you need it, you dont just dump it in all willy nilly, but its a known proven fact that plant pick up the most nutrients at specific ph ranges, and lots of organic choices out there. :) my 2 cents at least ;)

Well I tried to level out the PH my first grow and then the next grow I didn't .
I saw no difference . I can't say per yeild as each strain is gonna be different of course .
Also most of the growers that have been growing for years have said u don't need to adjust PH if ur tap water is clean. So ever since I've not checked PH and I got a very good yeild . I don't see how the PH up and down will make the yeild anymore bigger but by a few grams each plant

Point is its not needed or required its an option unless u have hard or bad water, do u disagree with that ?

  9. The only time ph isn't required is in organically grown meds. If ur using synthetic nutes or a soilless or soil that's inert then you will need to ph ur water no doubt about it. Plants uptake nutes better at certain ph levels. Back to the ? I am using canna nutrients in promix and am loving the results buds are awesome. I don't grow for yield but for highest quality meds I can. I also us a cple additives n sugars n co2. I still get an oz of dried to a gallon of dirt in the pot hope that helps a lil just my opinion

  10. Tk86 maybe ur water is ok cuz soil ur ph level can be a lil higher. I like my ph at 5.8 for best results in my setup. I've tried not to ph n had problems n I live in Great Lake state we have awesome water ph of 7 out of the tap. If I was in dirt I wouldn't worry to much when you add nutes its prolly at 6.3 6.5 which is fine for soil. But soilless ,coco, water all need a lil lower ph IMO to work best. When I water n add nutes my ph goes down to 6.2 them 1ml per gal of water will bring down a point like I said 5.8 to 6 is what I like

  11. U need a certain ph for your plants to be able to take in nutrients, if the ph in soil is too low or high you WILL get a ph lockout and will have to correct that with ph'd water

Basically what im saying is im watering with a ph of 8 in my soil, my plants wont be able to take in optimum levels of nitrogen, or phosphorus. And they wont get ANY iron, boron, zinc
They will also take in stuff like ammonium that they normally wouldnt take in with a good PH level.

If your using good water (distilled water) the ph should already be pretty good, so no you dont need to ph water with distilled water, Or atleast most the time.
i do it anyways just to be safe and i like knowing what goes in my plant.

But when i add nutrients my ph can drop down to a 4.5. Imagine if i didnt test that water and just gave it to my plants, they would most likely lock out and cause huge issues untill i do a flush with PH'd water

So basically iMO its very important to measure the ph even if your in soil. If you go 100 percent organic, its totally different.

If your only giving your plants water, thats already good water Then it wont matter, but if you mix your own nutrients and your ph changes dramatically then youll probably get a ph lock out that will eventually kill your plants

If you couldnt understand this let me know and ill edit it

  12. Heres a pic to show u, plants uptake nutes at a certain ph! If your ph is too far off your plants will lock out certain nutrients, which can make your yield greatly smaller. Or flat out kill the plants lol

  13. Yeah I know that chart from back in the day when I actually tried the PH up and down.
But I get what u guys r saying but makes no sense in my case ,as I don't grow organic and I use heavy nutrients on a regular bases and I never test my water nor do I flush , I do allow a small bit of run off every once a week to get raid of build up .
And I always get 110-160grams dried (over 300grams wet) per plant that was grown for extactly 3 months . R u saying I could up my yeild way more then that if I do a PH up and down ?

Also not trying to be smartass but if u r saying is all right why haven't any of my plants ever died or ended up giving me small buds ?

  14. Thank u all so much for the info, I appreciate it. I got a bottle of fox farm gro big and some superthrive. I paid five bucks more then what I would have paidonline but I got it today and I had about a half an hour discussion with the guy that work there on all the different nutrients and all the different manufacturers and build a good rapport with him.I'm really okay with the extra couple of dollars because the friendship and the one on one education is worth it to me.

  15. Great it worked out for u . I also when I first started growing went to my local grow shop and the guy was awesome with getting me started and feed me with so much info and things to read it was insane way nicer and better answers that way then on forums lol.
So good luck with ur grow . Tis only begun . :D

  16. Your water with the nutrients is probably a neutral PH already, your pretty lucky lol the nutrients i use are a natural ph down (botanicare) so it makes my ph drop hard. Your nutrients probably dont effect your ph, or maybe your waters ph is too high and once u add the nutrients your ph drops perfect

I did a grow without messuring the ph, it was my first grow and i got a pretty decent yield. I did the same thing with the plants i have now (didnt test the ph) until they stated to show signs that something was wrong, i got myself a ph kit and found out my ph was pretty low so i fixed that and the plants went back to normal really fast.

Im not saying you specifically will get a larger yield from your plants, it sounds like your ph is naturally where it needs to be. But if i dont measure my ph i know my plants will start to look different like they did when they were young. Which could have killed my plants over a month or 2 time, or just would have given me skimpy buds

By the way, i dont use ph up or down at all, i use different types of water and my nutrients to raise and lower the ph. But i make sure my ph is good everytime

I think your pretty lucky not having to messure your ph, like i said above i think whatever water your giving your plants already has a good ph. But id still buy atleast a $5 ph test kit from walmart just to be safe, thats just me though Also the $5 tester kit can test the water 200-300 times so its not like its a huge expense to me

  17. Like I said ur shit didn't die because ur water is prolly coming out at 7 then ur adding nutes n its coming down to a good level prolly between 6 and 6.5. Try giving it a ph of 4.5 for a week or two n see what happens.
