nute burn starting from top leaves?

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by imafluffycorgi, Oct 30, 2012.

  1. Hi guys, new grower here, just ran into my first issue with an otherwise healthy grow.

My girl is going into 6th week of flower, and a few days ago I noticed signs of nute burn. Symptoms are pretty classic, except its only affecting the topmost leaves on the plant - right around the main cola. Bottom leaves look fine. From reading around on other posts here, it seems like this would typically start on the bottom leaves first. Any reason why it would start from the top like this? Or am I'm dealing with another problem entirely?

Also wondering what I should do at this point. I did a full flush yesterday, and it doesn't seem to be getting worse, but this far into flower I am not getting any new growth, so it's hard to tell if it is getting any better, either. Should I continue to feed just plain water for a couple of days, or start feeding nutes again at half strength?

Additional info: Growing in coco coir in a clay pot - feeding Canna Coco A&B at full strength (but just plain water every other feeding) - PH levels have been steady, but I don't have exact readings (using GH PH control kit).

Thanks guys - any feedback is much appreciated.

Beautiful grow and don't worry much bout the burn very little grows exhibit less.. you've clearly done some research.. canna a and b are veg nutes though, you need to be feeding a flowering nute such as pro bloom by botanicare. coco coir is deficient of calcium magnesium so you should be feeding some cal/mag too lol.

If you want to do something i would flush them now,and reintroduce nutes... get to a dro store and get some pro bloom and some sort of a bud XL type product too.. right bout now 5-6th week is when ya start to hit em with bud booster..

may i suggest botanicare csn17 or w/e it as as well.. they call it a "ripener" you should be able to get quite a few more feedings in before the final flush..looks like thats got a ways to go...
Dropin 100 bucks at the dro store really is worth it in the long run.

what do u ph ur water too?

  3. Thanks for the advice angusbeef!

I did flush and the damage seems to have stopped, so I'm more at ease now. It's my first grow, so any bit of damage really freaks me out lol

I did some reading on Canna A&B, and as far as I can tell it can be used throughout the whole grow, not just veg. I'll definitely look into some additives though to bulk the buds up some. It's a 10-12 week flowering strain, so I still have a ways to go :)

for sure I used to be the same way...oh and hey dont worry when all the leaves start turning yellow and falling off lol..seriously.

I give em a dose of a and b during transition and another one during the first few weeks but ya really wanna cut back.. they need to be tapered off the nitrogen in flower and the csn17 actually helps promote that during the last 4 weeks.

I assume ya probably goin budget i was the same way too...
Let me suggest in order of importance imo.

Cuttings/Clones, after Transplants, randomly throughout a grow..
    -liquid karma

    Vegetative growth-
(of course a and B which u have)
    1. Cal/mag is almost essential for growing in coco. a cap full ever now and than or every watering if correcting an issue.
I tried going cheap supplementing with epsom salts like you "can do", will never again.

    Flowering growth

    1. pro bloom
    2. bud enhancer of your choice
    3. molasses can be used to enhance flowers.. as well.
    4. csn17 for the last 4 weeks..i don't think its quite a "booster" just what they consider a ripener..

If your growin a few in the closet the approx $20 a pop quarts should last ya several grows.. i'm sold on botanicare..

My next from seed I am looking forward to splurging for a root stimulant.. possibly rhizotonic but that shits FN ridiculously expensive!

  5. awesome - all very good to know.

I'll go pick up some Pro Bloom, and I did already get molasses to use in the last two weeks when I flush. Is Cal/Mag something I still need to use at this stage, or just during veg?
