Nute Burn or Mag Deficiency? Photos

  1. Yikes! I got up this morning and found my pH had dropped from 5.8 to 4.9. I just changed the res two days ago! I had brought my nutes down to 1000 from 1400 because of what I believed to be nute burn. Take a Look: Nute Burn or Magnesium Deficiency? Or maybe heat/light burn. 430W about 13" from the tops.

  2. I would lean more to the burn side along with pH problems than mag def. as the leaves aren't curling up from the edges which is what happens with Mg def.

Looks like a nice sativa tho? :)

  3. I'm certain it's nute burn I had the very same reactions on the leaves of my plants. Just wait a few days to apply nutes again. Don't worry there are enough nutrients in the soil available for the plant for days. They will grow very nicely after that. Trust me.

And remember, apply about half the amounts of nutes you give your plant in every application. But wait a few days first.

  4. If your ph was 4.9 then the ph was locking out all uptake of nutrients. Therefore, I believe nute burn is out of the question. MG deficiency is out to I think; looks nothing like it. Your problem is the ph. Get the ph back into the proper range and the uptake of nutrients will be back to normal without you changing a thing (except the ph of course).

  5. Nute burn it is then. The pH drop was a one night only thing. My ph has been very stable in the 5.8 - 6 range. I flushed with, I forget, I'm stoned. Clearex or something, lol. Went back in at 1100 and all is stable. A problem I have is that I am growing two plants in a reservoir that only holds 6 gallons of solution to the bottom of the net pots. With that small a reservoir, the less nutes I put in, the more often I have to change the solution. And the faster the pH goes nutty. At this stage of growth (week 6 flowering) the plants use more water than nutes of course and the pH tends to drop. I just had tap water (pH 8.7 here) each day to bring it back up. They are now drinking about a gallon a day. At a gallon a day, my reservoir has to be changed every 5 days or so. Gripe, Gripe, Gripe. If I wasn't so cheap, I'd buy a bigger reservoir. Can't right now though as the roots are too tangled and I ain't cutting them at this point.
