I have a 4'x4'x7' veg room with 400W MH and a 4'x8'x7' flowering room with 600W HPS. Mylar is all over the walls and good reflectors to maximize heat (temperature is a problem in my basement this winter). What I plan to do is have a mother or 2 in the veg room living there and I want to be growing her clones in the veg room too. Is 400W MH enough for a mom and about 16-20 clones? I am thinking after the mother is about 2-3' tall I can probably take about 16-20 cuttings from each mother ... is this about right? Then when they are ready to flower, would 600W be enough for a 4'x8' space for about 16-20 plants? I am leaning towards the SOG method where I flower early to fit more plants in the same space. Also, I know I can keep the mom in veg stage forever but how do I keep her from getting too big and tall?
Sounds like you will have plenty of light, especially being able to cover the walls in Mylar. You might want to pick up some CFLs for the mothers depending on how big they get, and maybe some CFLs for flowering. I don't think you will need to, but if you have the money, and heat isn't a problem, you can never have too much light.
