Nug Etiquette

I have never heard anyone worrying about how to break up a nug but I can see how it would look nicer if you slowly worked your way up from the bottom. Personally if someone said that to me I would respond with something along the lines of "I guess you don't need any of this weed then"

I don't see how it matters really its all going to get smoked eventually anyway, however I always work from the bottom up

Lol it's your weed. If anyone's got a problem with what you do to your weed, offer them a toke....up the ass.

 

The tip of the bud has the most trichomes and flavor. It should be saved for last. Try breaking chunks from the bottom of the bud first. I know your friends were being a bit anal about it, but i have to admit, I agree with them.

 

It's always best to handle your weed as little as possible. Keeps the bud more preserved IMO since I feel like dirty, or even clean, hands can leave some trace oils on your weed as well as absorb some thc.

Does anyone else wash their hands before handling their weed?

 

Always, I would NEVER put dirty hands anywhere near my weed. Whenever I pick up from my dealer, the last thing I do before touching his weed is wash my hands at his house. 

 

Dude it's weed not uranium (doesn't matter how you break it up) besides it's yours..fuck them if they don't like it they can pack up their weed

 

They probably have their rituals if they smoke a lot more than you do, but I wouldn't call what they did "etiquette" unless they're trying to bring you into their tight-knit circle.
 
Proper etiquette would be for everybody to respect the buyer and let him do as he pleases with his bud. (and corner the fucking bowl when it gets passed, lol)

 

you do you brehh....i break up buds from bottom up, even if i throw in grinder....i even try and take the smallest nug from every pick up and throw it aside to a jar that i keep stashed away for 4/20 and/or emergencies....you forget about it after a while and then have a real melaaaange of buds.

I guess I always break it from the bottom of the nug, but only because it seems easier for me to break it off the stem that way.  I have never heard anyone criticize or make a comment about how someone broke up their nugs in all my time smoking though.  I think they were probably just giving you a hard time and got carried away because they were too stoned maybe

 

I break my bigger nugs apart from the bottom because they come apart from the stem alot better and it usually makes the rest of the bud look better, if you are not smoking it all.

Well said. I guess I'm not serious enough about my weed because I don't worry about washing my hands or doing much "picking" at the bud before grinding and smoking/vaping it. I don't think I've gotten less high because of it. BUT - At the same time, I respect others' choice to do so and handle their weed however they choose to do so. Seems like an awful lot of steps, but I also know that folks dig that traditional or ceremonial type thing leading up to smoking.
To each their own. Smoke on, friends.

 

I'd say it depends on how big the nug is, and how well grown, but the top of a big nug can be some of the best tasting to vape (or smoke)

 

Haha weed is weed. But I do break my nugs up from bottom to top...
