Now's the time!!!

  1. I thought i would take a minute and remind newer growers that NOW is the time to get out there and locate your grow sites for next spring.

The sun is in a much different location now, when the buds need sunlight to harden and ripen than it is in june. As the season progresses, the sun rises and sets lower and lower in the southern sky for those of us that live in the nothern lattitudes, so knowing where the sun is at this time of year is critical.

Locating the site now is also important becuase it allows you to see what the vegetation surrounding your grow looks like. It allows you to observe the activity in the area of your proposed grow and if farmers or hunters are trapesing through the area.

It allows you to discern where to establish your path in and out and most importantly, it allows you to assess the soil and what you need to do to prepare the soil for the grow. I do all of my planting hole preparation in the fall and over winter so that spring time activity can focus on starting plants and planting. If i have holes that have to have soil carried in, then over the winter, bag by bag, it gets done.

If you wait until spring, there's just too much to do. Starting now will allow you to focus on the important aspects in spring. Starting plants, building cages and planting.

Good luck and happy harvest to all

Also after you find your perfect spot make a compost heep pile. This way you will have fresh compost at site next year. Just use leafs, ferns or any soft green. No pine stuff and woody stuff. Later in fall when the leafs are falling from the tress is best time for compost heep piles.
