It seems like forever ago (3 weeks), that I decided to embark on this perilous journey. During that time, much research and preparation has taken place. Ideas have come and gone. Some scrapped because of practicality, and others modified to provide an improved solution. Funds have been spent, and some has been wasted, but the learning process is invaluable. The journey may be rough, but it is that process from which we grow. Results will be obtained. Whether joyous or solemn, the evolution will forever continue. Wish me luck weary travelers, as I will send my best wishes to you. *** Summary: I have beans in the dirt.
3 autoflower plants (still just seeds) in 3.5 gallon buckets filled with Espoma organic soil and additional perlite. 4'x2'x5' tent. 6 x 23w CFLs per plant. Small panel heater because room temp outside the tent is 52-56F. 4 inch 100 CFM duct fan and DIY carbon filter.
Got home from work tonight to discover I was a proud papa. 2 of the 3 seeds are up and the other is 3/4 of the way there. I wasn't expecting them to come up so quickly and the scrawny seed I didn't have much hope for (Nadia) is the one that looks like it came up first. 24 hour soak in water, and less than 24 in the dirt before they sprouted. I wouldn't put much faith in the idea that seeds that sink = good and seeds that float = bad. Only 1 of the 3 sank but all have sprouted. Nadia (Northern Lights Auto) Sabrina (Super Skunk Auto) Natalia (Northern Lights Auto) will be up for sure tomorrow.
I thought a title edit was in order since I actually have sprouts. Would appreciate any good vibes you can give. This is fun.
Love the names btw. Looking good http://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?/topic/1278292-Kevieboys-dwc-with-autos-and-cfls-first-grow
Damn good movie too http://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?/topic/1278292-Kevieboys-dwc-with-autos-and-cfls-first-grow
over the line! haha...sounds like a good start just watch your watering and they wont need food for a while..when i do soil i water with some kind of humic or fulvic acid like mad farmers nuts to help the microbes and for a small buffer in the water..plain water works fine cause most soils have it in there already it just helps moves things along...makes a good ph down also
You were over the line Smokey. Mark it zero Dude. lol Thanks. I'm not going to be feeding for quite a while. Growing in Espoma organic with added perlite.
Lol wasn't sure, I was thinking damn i gonna make this dude mad if that is a picture of his family or something lol. I just thought it looked like Dan Conner....
I did a little mild LST on Sabrina (24 days old). I know you aren't supposed to go crazy with autos, but should I bend her down more?
I did bend down a little farther, and then tied down a couple of other stems. Less than 24 hours later those bent down branches already made the turn back to vertical. Amazing plants.
I removed a runt. She was the seed that took 8 days to sprout, and never did catch up or look well. Same strain as the others, but her first set of leaves were even yellow. She had the same soil and care as the other two, but didn't seem to want to catch up and always looked a pale yellow. I thought about experimenting with nutes to see if I could boost her, but thought it was best to just put her out of her misery. I didn't want to do it, but it is more light and space for the other two that are very healthy.
Sorry to hear http://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?/topic/1278292-Kevieboys-dwc-with-autos-and-cfls-first-grow
No worries. The other two look great. When I pulled her, she also had very poor roots for her age. She was a tiny seed that took a long time to sprout. I think it was just bad genetics from the start.
