Novice grower needs professional constructive criticism

  1. I got a single plant growing, strain is flo, isn’t my first grow only one harvest under my belt, basically just looking For some criticism or perhaps ideas, I’m growing in a super make shift box that’s just a box with foil (ik foil is not very good to grow with) and 2 feit grow lights one is a a19 7w 60w equivalent, and the other is the br30 9w 65w equivalent, I’m going to get a better light for flowering but for the time being these relatively cheap led lights seem to be doing the trick, compost/ soil mix with a 16/8 lighting schedule right now, I fimed it once and I have a jewelers lens and it looks to me like 6 tops with the lens but only 4 to the eye so y’all tell me what you see

  5. I definitely am going to upgrade!!! But I am having problems choosing lights whether led or hid I have a hard time choosing what’s a better investment, and thank y’all for such a quick reply

  6. Qb all the way! In ur make shift box I would get a 4 pack of qb132

  7. I have never heard of that but I definitely look into that!!

  8. Qb132 are boards that run at 75w max and don’t require a heat sink. Good for shorter places due to less heat made

even cheap LED's that have the 12 bands (full spectrum) with IR and UV are fairly decent nowadays... as long as they have a good PAR rating, some of the cheaper LED's are not even that bad nowadays... like you can get a vipaspectura 600w for under 200 bucks and that will grow from seed to harvest .. there are many journals and pictures showing these LEDS can indeed produce some good buds

You want to buy LED's based on PAR rating and efficiency levels rather than the wattage, as wattage is a really bad stat to buy an LED light on, as not only is it deceptive because you can have super high watts and a super crappy efficiency and PAR rating and also vice-versa ... QB's are good for this very reason.

  10. Thank you very much, both of those seem like very viable options that won’t break the bank. Out of what I know the PAR rating of those bulbs ranges from 450 to 650. And that’s crazy I had no idea that wattage wasn’t the way to go foreal, very good to know I have about 2 weeks before I absolutely need more light to support this beauty, I will definitely keep y’all updated on the grow if it’s something y’all would be interested in

  11. By those bulbs I mean those 2 feit ones I’m using currently

  12. I'm also using the Fluence bioengineering guide for the PAR rating too as a rough guide ...
    screenshot-fluence.science-2019.02.13-00-25-04.png

PAR does drop off significantly the wider you go out from the center .. like see this PAR chart for the VS 600w, you'll see the PAR directly under the light is significantly higher then just 1 foot away at 24 inches of hight from the canopy

  13. I totally see what you’re getting at! And highly considering that 600w led

  14. Why do u call it 600w!!!!?!! FFS. Atleast put (brand)600w(### actual watts). Don’t make noobs think they are buying a 600w led then they get it and it flowers like a 125w

  15. May
maybe put vipaspectura 600(not watts) led

  16. I have been reading about LEDs getting tested and the actual wattage being super low on them

  17. Ya it’s crazy. But that’s legal advertising... kinda like how ur speedometer May read 145-185 but it won’t get up to that :p

  18. How easy are those QBs to set up!? It seems kinda complicated

  19. It’s really not! U have the prong u plug in, u will have three wires to driver. On output of driver u will 2 wires. Pos and neg. pos to pos and neg to neg from driver to board
