Nova Decarb/Infuser

Discussion in 'Cannabis & Weed Edibles: Cooking & Recipes' started by Ravenb, Dec 31, 2019.

  1. Has anyone bought and used this double duty machine? I was looking at the Magical Butter machine, but it really didn't solve my issue.
I live in an apartment and mainly vape herb, but would love to make my own edibles. Only thing holding me back is the odor issue I need to overcome.
If anyone has used this and can share if it actually cuts down on most odor and it works well, I'd appreciate it.
    Thanks.

  2. I live in an apt building and there's no significant odor. This is especially true if you don't open it up immediately after the decarb cycle is done.

  3. Thanks. Does it work well for both processes? Other thing I was concerned about was, since it's doing two things, does it do both well? Looks to be pretty substantial, and only one out there that I can find that does both, so no competition.

  4. There are already threads about this. Try a search for Nova. @PsychedelicSam did testing of the Nova's decarb and it was spot on. Well worth the money if you're flush. There's a lot of discussion about it- well worth a search of the forum.
    Here, I got it.

  5. I like Ardent Lift/Nova so much I own more than one.
There is almost zero smell while it's in operation, but the decarbed herb will reek if you open the device before it cools. When in a hurry I open mine under the stove vent fan.
I've sometimes put mine in the refrigerator for faster cooling.

The max temp inside Nova/Lift is 218 F, according to a phone call a couple years ago.
The device runs for about 1:45 with herb inside.
Guessing that 15 min of that is heat up and cool down, Ardent decarb is about 218 F for 1-1.5 hours.
I use mainly for sleep, so the Ardent infusion works fine for me.
But I do prefer using a toaster oven for infusion, which won't smell much.
220 F or 20-60 min in a toaster oven with oil and lecithin is my preferred infusion.
60 min is slightly sleepier than 20 min.

If/when you decide to make edibles, be careful because there are a lot of bad recipes on the internet.
A lot of people can offer guidance here.

  6. I just bought one and used it to make a batch of brownies and these fruity pebbles Krispy Treats.
See my review #45 on that link above.
I got the Nova on Black Friday for $150 and they included all of the attachments. The silicone sleeve and the strainer/funnel.
    It’s paid for itself already.

  7. I have one and am very happy with it. All things being equal, I still prefer ethanol extraction using PSam's method, but if I'm pressed for time or just not feeling up to it, I have used the Nova to infuse into oil. Subjectively, the results feel similar. I would probably buy another if my Ardent broke. I just run it on a window sill or on my porch via an extension cord and there are no odor issues until you open it. One button and done. I do believe you can achieve similar results without, but it simplifies things greatly and removes a lot of up front interaction.

  8. The Nova is slicker than come on a gold tooth and ardentcannabis.com is my infusing go to.
