Maybe not so good, and a reason the republicans could be even bigger assholes and hold up the process of government even more.
And if Initiative 71 is victorious at the polls, the new law doesn't automatically take effect-this is D.C., after all. The D.C. Board of Elections will have to verify the results and then the legislation is subject to a 60-day congressional review period. D.C. Council Chairman Phil Mendelson tells City Desk he plans to submit the legislation to Congress in December or January, which likely means it will have to pass through the incoming 114th Congress, which could be entirely controlled by Republicans.

I forgot, all DC laws are passed by Congress, not by the city council.

You know I live here right?

Aint no way they will stop it.

I voted in 98 for medical in DC. It passed but they never put it into effect. They suppressed the vote.
This time is different. We already passed a 1 oz. 25$ noncriminal citation penalty. Congress didn't do anything and it went into law.

I saw a dude breaking up weed at the bus stop on Rhode Island and GA ave today.
    Shits crazy.

And so you know that you don't know what you're talking about:

DC laws ain't passed by Congress. They are voted on by the City Council and signed or vetoed by the Mayor.
Congress reviews them. They can hold them up and even vote to overturn them in a Congressional Committee.
They have a set amount of time to act. If they don't act, which they 99% of the time don't, then it becomes city law.

Don't tell me where I'm from son.

Now imma smoke a fatty on my stoop.
  11. Likely my ass. You don't understand how DC works.
There would be riots in the streets.
    Meddlesome has zero backing.
  12. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, the ranking Republican on the subcommittee that oversees the District, said Tuesday that the city's pot laws should be left to local officials. Paul also has sought to block the federal government from interfering with states' medical marijuana programs.
