So I just started my first year at OSU and I'm not sure what to make of it yet. I'm pretty anti-social, in fact I think I have social anxiety disorder which doesn't bother me because I like having a small group of friends and keeping to myself...

But I'm starting to think I might have made the wrong decision coming here from California.. I love the classes here and I love learning but I probably just should've stayed in California and gotten a 40-hour per week job along with going to classes regularly, also I miss the bud!

I used to get drunk all the time but I don't anymore and I don't want to so I could care less about partying...

I was just wondering if you guys had any insight/advice or your thoughts on possibly transferring? Right now I'm definitely gonna stay but who knows how I'm gonna be at the end of the quarter...

Forgot to mention I don't know anyone and I'm pretty lonely I just post up in my room watching Breaking Bad. I meet plenty of kids but I don't have much in common some of them are pretty weird hah... I just want to finish my education and get a job! I've been thinking about graduating early as well.. shit who knows..

So yea you guys have any advice?

  2. It's college bro, find yourself, explore around, I'd kill to live in Cali.. dont transfer start socializing

  3. Thats what I'm saying I wanna go back to Cali! hah but yea Im gonna stick it out it's only been a little more than a week

  4. Cali will always be there to go back to. If you go home you will regret not knowing what would have happened if you finished school in Ohio. School def blows, but it will be what you make it for sure.

  5. The best advice I have for you is to force yourself into social situations. Make smalltalk with people you see in classes and in your dorms, whether it be about their majors or the weather or where they're from.

If you actually have a social anxiety disorder and can't/don't want to do that, leave your door open when you're just chilling in your dorm. It makes you seem a lot friendlier and people are more often to comment on what you're watching or introduce themselves or something.

  6. did you say you are in cali but miss the bud? wtf man, im not even sure thats possible

  7. just go outside and meet ppl on campus. Its not hard. Do more drugs too.

  8. He's in Ohio...

  9. college sucks...its sounds way cooler when ur in HS but its really not that great

  10. I left Cali to start college in Switzerland.
I'm in the same situation, i don't know anyone and i don't really have the same interest as the people i talked to.

Right now, i regret my choice of going back to europe.

  11. Ive done 3 years at 'college' man, from the moment i got there i saw it for what it was... a con! But by the time most people realise how shite uni/college is they are already agreeing to pay at least 1 years tuition therefore they might aswell stay. Why pay such a ridiculous amount for someone reading off a slide show? do what most unhappy students do, sell some weed and make some money!

  12. Exactly I'm in college its kickass and only been a few weeks. It's alot better than highschool. My highschool had uniforms so it's nice to be at school where people aren't dressed like walmart employees. Also I can smoke on campus! Lots of my friends from highschool go to my college, but I go in the afternoon, so I'm making new friends and so far their all in their 20s and smoke weed. Surround yourself with people who smoke and you'll be enjoying it.

  13. OSU???? Betta go socialize.. at least try to

  14. dude osu is a big party school, tailgate and go to football games

DubV goes hard, just sayin. You'll find the right people trust me, just have to give it time. I'm a freshman in college too, and came down knowing nobody and made a good amount of friends already, but eventually learned to just love the freedom and live it up while you can. It is certain you will meet people at a school like OSU.

  16. Save up and transfer back when you are ready, but don't sit out and wait for that day. Have fun, live life.
I almost moved up state to go to college and I'm very shy too so i changed my mind. I now go to a shit community college and it's boring as fuck. lol.

  17. living in ohio and my sister goes to osu, its a goos school osu has some good bud too, my dude there gets it shipped from cali lol. just gonna take some time to establish connects. its 50000 people big, you gonna find friends eventually, just stay active socially and youll be iight.

  18. This probably isn't the right time to say this, butttt you should have went to a bettttter school. Like one of the schools in the Great State of Michigan. Everyone knows osu is full of tools... Like a bunch of them. If you want some true friends down there, you should wear your Maize and Blue. That will make you stand out!

  19. You are at a giant university and I guarantee there are people that you would be good friends with. Start socializing more. If you don't do the whole party thing, then don't worry. Talk to people in your classes, maybe join a club (the university here has literally 400 different ones). You will find people that share similar interests. Just because you go to a party school it doesn't mean that you have to constantly party.

  20. I go to Osu too, the Newark branch. I agree it has been pretty meager so far, this being my freshman year and classes just starting. Hopefully things get better. And fortunately for me I live in an apartment bear campus with one of my best friends.
