NorthernBudz backyard flavour

  1. Welcome,

I started a few indoor hydro plants that I was going to do inside, but time got away on me and so I’m attempting to transplant them to soil for my backyard this summer. They are just over 1 month old now and I’ve only transplanted the Purple Orange today.

The garden area isn’t ready yet but I’ll post it’s details and picture once it’s made. I’m also either going to add an auto or a Peyote Cookie as a 4th.

Left is OG Kush, middle is Purple Trainwreck, and right is Purple Orange CBD.

  2. Moving inside plants to outside is always challenging. Doesn't take much of a mismatch in lighting hours to drop the newly transplanted plant into flower.
15-9 or 16-8 is best for plants you intended to run outside.

If they are on a different, longer hours of light your other option is to keep it lit up for part of the night. Equal to or longer then the hours it's used to. Can even go to 24-0 if you want. Not a lot of light is needed just enough to keep the plant "Awake" at night. A 25watt CFL will do the job.
Turn supplemental light off Aug1st and let the plant flower and finish normally around Oct 15-30th.
This is what I'll be doing again this summer for the main garden space.

  3. I did run them on a 24 hour cycle, but since my first post I have been letting it go dark for 3-9 hours a night. This will continue for another week or so until the weather is nice enough outside for them. Hoping that should ease the transition enough along with me having the windows in the room open so it’s adjusting to the outdoor climate as well.

Going to transplant the other 2 tonight and update with a pic

  4. Here they are transplanted and taking it well. Looking to get the garden area made up in the next week and then as long as the weather is nice they will be going in.

The 4th I will be adding will be peyote cookie

  5. Alright I’ve been busy getting the garden set up and ready. It’s about 14 ft long and 30 ft wide. Raised bed around it and garden bed is a bit below ground level. I dug down 2 feet and churned the dirt, added 180 lb of pro mix and mixed before planting. Threw some top soil to cover and I’ll be adding landscaping fabric soon. The soil was already pretty decent before I added pro mix. Now that’s taken care of I can cut the grass soon lol

Purple Orange CBD on the right, Purple Trainwreck in the middle, Peyote Cookie is little one on the left, and OG Kush is in the planter pot. I needed to move one around as the season goes and I want the Peyote more than the OG so I gave it a front row seat in the garden.

  6. Things are starting to look pretty good back here. LST the Purple Orange and the Purple Trainwreck. Peyote cookie is starting to get some growth going now since I cleared some branches off a taller bush that blocked some light and I’m still considering LST on the OG Kush but for now I’m leaving it.

  7. Another picture update. I’ll be doing another round of LST on them this weekend.

  10. I’m a bit surprised by the inactivity on this site compared to how it was years ago. Here is another update regardless.

Put up the first level of my trellis for the plants except the OG Kush in the back still needs to be done soon. I’m not sure if I will add a second layer of twine trellis later or just tie the heavy branches to steaks as needed.

  11. Where I live I am only permitted to grow two mature plants. I’ve done so. I don’t know what to do with all the reefer... I don’t know enough people to give it all away to.
THEN, I see your grow. What will do do with it all... or is that an indelicate question to ask?

  12. Hi there, everyone is allowed 4 plants per household but I do have my medical license as well which allows me to have 6 outside and keep up to 4 pounds in storage at a time :) technically I could have 10 out there

  13. Pruned up the OG Kush to let the light really penetrate in since she’s at the very beginning of making buds. Before and after shot.

  14. Beautiful plants! Can’t wait to see those in full flower. I know what you mean about inactivity on this site. I used to frequent Grasscity years ago and it seems like it’s died down quite a bit here. Post after post in grow journals going without a response. Dunno what happened

  15. Thanks! The OG Kush will be the first one to fully mature. It’s gunna be a beautiful fall with the purple in there and a smell to match it.

  16. I gave them another feeding of nutes yesterday as I was noticing a little bit of yellow on the Purple Orange and it was time for one anyways. I also put a trellis up for the OG Kush to help open it up and support it.

  17. Things are moving along well over here. Going to have to do another twine trellis for the upper half of the plants soon. Still minimal yellowing in the purple orange, but certainly nothing to be concerned about. I give them 25 gallons of water mixed with the sensibloom solution about every 8-10 days.

  18. Got to spend some hours in the garden this weekend to clear out all the growth in the middle and the bottom of the plants that I would consider wasting energy and not amounting to anything come harvest. The Purple Trainwreck is still too far behind in the budding stage for me to do it on her yet.

  20. Finished trellising all the tops and gave another feeding today. Purple Trainwreck finally showing some nice bud action. Some good progress from the last pics I posted and purple is starting to hit the leaves.
