Welcome to anyone coming across this journal, I'ma start off by saying this my second real grow and the first was a success. About a pound from 4 autos but that has its own journal so let's start this one off proper.

Strain: Northern lights autoflower from growers choice seeds

Light: currently a 300w Amazon cob led. Running 24/7 about 30 inches away from canopy

Medium: 5 gal coco/perlite hempy bucket with 2 inch perlite reservior.

Nutes: gh grow/bloom/calmag/ vinegar for ph down. Tap water.

Environment: 4ft by 2ft closet. Temp ranges from 73 to 82 rh between 40 and 60.

I germinated in a cup of water for 2 days planted straight into the 5 gal and they sprouted On the 29.
I've been feeding them about 750 ppm of a mix between grow and calmag. Tap water ppm around 275 after the chlorine evaps.
Today i started the low stress training.. the lights are on 24/7 but im debating on giving it 4 hours of darkness as this indica is already growing short. ??? I see roots just at the top of the one and only drainage hole two inches up from the bottom. When they hit the reservior i expect nice things. currently watering about 1.5 liters every day. But here's some pics and I'll try and update often. 20191018_231257.jpg 20191018_225712.jpg 20191018_224214.jpg 20191018_225823.jpg 20191018_223924.jpg 20191018_231257.jpg 20191018_225712.jpg 20191018_224214.jpg 20191018_225823.jpg 20191018_223924.jpg

  2. Looks good buddy. I've done hempys a few times. That dude needs a high five like. Great way to grow. Especially if you stick an air dome in the bottom of it.
These days I just stick a 10l fabric pot into a 4inch tall tub to the same effect.
I find it gives me better buds. More roots in the juice I figure.

Re the lighting. You won't get a straight answer unfortunately cos there isn't one but personally I feel they benefit from a dark cycle.
I do 19/5 for my autos.
Imo, running 24/0 is only beneficial if youre using it to keep the environment stable.
Many like myself though prefer to give them a drop in temperature to replicate nature a bit more, hence the requirement for lights off.

It's one of these things you'll just have to make your own mind up on really.
Could get that light closer though.
I'd start dropping it and see how she reacts.
Keep an eye for any bleaching on the tops or the edges of the leaves curling upwards.
The bleaching will happen first and doesn't cause any damage as long as youre paying attention.
Drop it a couple inches each day till you see it then back off a few inches.
Measure that distance and that's your sweet spot for veg.

Hope it all goes well for ya man if you need any help give me a shout. I'm handy with most things hydro :)

  3. Also I've just noticed you have what appears to be p def.
Slightly odd thing to have at this point.
Are you supposed to be using the bloom bottle with those nutes aswell?
I'd maybe double check the manufacturers recs cos most folk that use them use grow and bloom together.
Double check the pH/ppm of the first run off too mate just incase.
When checking run off, feed from opposite side to the hole and collect the first stuff that comes out.
Tells you what's happening in the pot :)

  4. @Spanish@rcher wasn't expecting to get such a good first reply. Good shit. And thanks for the info about runoff as ive been doing basically the opposite. I was considering dropping lights but me wanting a stretch stopped that. Maybe I'll add 4 hours of darkness and lower the light about 6 to 12 inches and see what's up. Hempy deserves financial compensation lol. The nutes are one part combining only during flower stretch. I didn't give nutes until the last minute had to fix card issue with Amazon.

  6. Good to see you back for round 2. Your first was good. I’m sure this go round will only be better. I’m subbed up

  7. Here she is after only one day of shock from topping. Keeping the branches trained down with pipe cleaners has been an every day job. 3.5 weeks. Compared to my last grow she's smaller but bushier. Ppms around 800. Ph around 5.9. Lights about 22 inches away now still at 24 7.

  9. She’s definitely shorter than your last. But I feel that’s better. You can train her way better. Get more tops and get some tight, dense colas. That’s even in weight as far as bud goes.

  11. That was my thoughts exactly. I've always seen them short all bud plants and wanted to try to imitate that.

  17. For sure will give the harvest details. That's the endgame.... here she is on the 30th.. two days after giving her something to cry about. 20191030_172119.jpg

  18. Well from the looks of it. Training her didn’t do anything but help you. I don’t really listen to people when they say you can’t do this and can’t do that. Because that’s all opinions bro. Besides, trial and error first hand is the best kind of experience anyway. Curious to see how it turns out and what numbers you get as far as yield goes.
