2/7 -- I just wanted to edit this and say his owners contacted me and Barley is going home tomorrow afternoon. :)

I was driving through Boulder Creek today and saw this dog on the side of the road stepping in front of every passing car. I pulled over to see if he had a collar and when I got out of the car he hopped right in and into my back seat. He had no collar on. I asked the people who lived around where I found him if they recognized the dog and they said they did not but told me of the local vet. I took him there and he was scanned for a microchip and there was none. I registered him as a lost dog there as well as with Animal Control and have posted ads on Craigslist.

Anyhow, I took him home with me. I have no idea what kind of dog he is, maybe a Border Collie mixed with something huge? He is quite large, I think at least 50lbs, and friendly as can be. He's very trainable and personable, he's never been aggressive to me. He's well cared for and I truly believe he's someone's pet.

So maybe you know this dog? Or, if I can't find his owners you are interested in adopting him. I live in a small studio and my landlord is not letting me keep him past next weekend.

He barely barks, he doesn't jump up on the furniture unless invited, he appears to be house trained, doesn't beg and doesn't jump. He appears to be aggressive to cats but friendly to people and other dogs.

    And he's really cute.
Anyone know anything or interested? I refuse to bring him to the pound where he may be euthanized which is what my landlord is saying I must do.

  8. awww :( If i lived in cali or near cali i would seriously adopt this dog. It looks so loving :( someone adopt this dog

  9. Thanks guys. Yesterday he was terrified of the elevator to get to my place, but I trained him out of that in 3 elevator rides. He's very well behaved and spent most of the night sleeping with me (only after I called him up on the bed) or on the floor next to me.

Today I'm going to take him for a hike and teach him so leash manners.
He's really fantastic and I just want to find his home, or a wonderful home for him. :)

  10. Took Riley on a hike yesterday, he's so friendly towards other dogs, even when they growl at him his tail is wagging and he's not aggressive back.

He loves people and loved being outside. I know this dog is someone's best friend. I'm hoping maybe some people who live in the area may see this today or be interested in adopting him.

He has not had an accident inside, he never jumps on furniture unless I invite him up, we learned come yesterday and I'm working on his leash manners.

  11. Makes me sad. Poor little guy. I bet you he was so scared when you first seen him on the side of the road. Hopefully you find a home for him soon.

  12. That's So Nice Of You Whiskey....if we had More People Like you in Thsi Crazy World We Live in....Man What a Cool Place it would Be!!!

Wish You Find a Home For Riley.....Such a Handsome Guy!!!!

  13. Dog damnit, i read it as "norther Colorado" as you said boulder creek, being in boulder (northern Colorado) but NOOOOO. Thats such a cute dog tho, you shouldnt have trouble finding it someone to be its slave :)

  14. Thanks guys! He wasn't afraid at all when I picked him up, as soon as I got out of my car his tail was wagging, he ran right up and jumped into my car and laid down in the backseat. He's a sweetheart. He still seems hesistant about his surroundings but he's getting more comfortable.

If ANY of you guys know ANYONE that lives in Northern California or California and wants a fantastic dog, please let me know, I'll drive him whereever he needs to go to get to a good home. I would love to keep him but I don't think it's a reality.

I need your help guys. :(

  15. Man if the dog could talk he would thank you. You really have a good heart. He could of been hurt really bad or even killed if he just was let alone on the road when it turned dark.

  16. Do they have a humane society near you?

They don't euthanize there, I'm sure he would go quick there.

  17. looks like you got a new dog....

    go ahead and keep him

you rescued him,,,,and have showed him love and compassion.......

to get rid of him,,,,,would be a crippling move for his '' psyche''

    so keep him,,,

  18. Humane Societies most certainly do euthanize. The time limit at the Boulder Humane Society is pretty long, as i assume it is is most less populated/dog breeded areas (hardly any wild dogs due to over breeding here). You need to find ASPCA resue facilities, or ASPCA sponsored humane societies if you want to ensure it wont be euthanized. Cali has a TON of them tho, more than 50% are solely for pitbulls, but there are TONS all over the place hahahah.

  19. I think she's in an apartment chicken. No dogs allowed.

Whiskey have you tried checking the local lost and found ads? Unless he got dumped, someone's probably looking for him.

  20. Wow. I volunteer at my humane society a couple times a week.

We don't euthanize, I thought all of them didn't.
