Noob question about 3 way cfl

    I just bought these 6500k cfls today. on the package it says daylight 12/19/28w 3 way mini-twist.

    my question is do i have to do something to make sure each bulb is at 28w? like i dont see a switch on the bulb.

    3way cfls are dimmable. Since you dont see any kind of switch on the bulb, you might need a 3way lamp to be able to do this tho. Hopefully its a 28watts and not 13.lol

    on the box it says not for use with dimmers though??

    They aren't dimmable, they work like incandescent 3-way bulbs in that they can handle three different wattages. If you run those in a regular socket you will get the middle wattage only, to get the highest wattage you need 3-way lamps (meaning that the lamp has 4 click positions -- off/wattage1/wattage2/wattage3, not that it has 3 sockets).

    But...it would be cheaper to get bulbs that aren't 3-way than buying lamps to accommodate the bulbs.
