hey guys... me and a couple of friends are starting to grow our own plant.... we have 6 seeds right now... ( getting more seeds wont be a problem if this is not enough). we have no idea how to do this so if could jsut answer a couple of my questions it would be aprreciated. 1. how many lights do we need ?? ( someone told me 8 and someone told me 2 for each plant , now im not sure) 2. we are putting it in my friends closet... wuts the deal with ventilation and matters like that? 3. how long do u htink this will take to grow?? i know i have more questions but i cannot remeber them right now so i will ask them wen i remeber.... so any help with the above questions or any additional advice would be appreciated thanks
The amount of lights depends on the type of lights you use. You should get an HPS (High Pressure Sodium), or MH (Metal Halide) lamp and ballast they will work best for growing indoor plants. You need to keep your temperature stable, in a confined space you may need an extracting fan. It depends on the strain you are growing and the schedule the lights are on that will determine how long itll take. Patience is a virtue.
allright thanks... so as long asd i get those lights and put it up 3 inches above the plants ... and where do i put the fan?? and should we jsut have 1 plant or 2??
with an HPS or MH you should keep it like 1-3 feet away depending on the wattage. put intake and outtake fans on the closet door or just set up an oscillating fan inside the closet. for the question about how many plants you need to keep in consideration your lights (how many watts) and growroom size (whats the closets dimensions?). oh.. usually as a base you should have at least 100 watts for each plant.

For lights, this is where I got mine, it http://www.clubhydro.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=486 It handles both MH and HPS bulbs if that is too expensive then go to walmart and get cheap compact fluros for about 7$ each bulb. They use normal sockets so they are easy to use. Get one for each plant. With the fluros keep them 1" above the plants for them to work. Eventually you will prolly want to get an HPS light and you can get a 150 watt one cheaper but you will have to shop around. Perhaps try Ebay and good luck.
Not everyone has the money to go out and buy an HPS. So for lights on the cheap, its get 2 or 3 shoplights ( flourescent) for ventilation in a closet...that depends on wat you CAN do. Like, would it be alright for u and your makes to cut 2 five inch squared holes in the closet doors? i dont see a way to vent with out cutting holes.. computer fans will work good. Now, most strains finish in about 6-8 weeks... and take any where from 1 month to 4 months to veg, depending on how big u want them, kinda lights u got, strain, ect..
im not sure how u would go about it with out cutting holes... you want about 100watts per plant... compact floros use regualr lamps tube floro fixtures come with a bulb
