Noob needs harvest help

  1. Hey guys, so in my preperation for my first grow I overlooked a pretty important detail. I am growing from bagseed, started with 3 plants but one was male so now I have 2. I did not consider that my plants may not be ready to harvest at the same time. Original plan was to hang the plants whole in my closet tent to dry without much or any smell (I have an exhaust fan with carbon filter). My concern now is that one of my plants looks like it is close to harvest but the other probably has a couple weeks to go. This is a problem because I understand that I should hang dry the plant in dark room, which I cannot do if I need the lights on for the other plant.

The light setup I have wont allow me to split the closet in half vertically, the height of the plants wont allow it horizontally. I'm thinking my best option is to place the drying plant in a cardboard box with some small holes in the bottom and top for airflow (perhaps with a cloth covering to reduce light penetration, or a some tubes?).

Am I on the right track here? Any advice on making this work well? I'm also open to other suggestions but limiting smell is crucial, which I think limits me to staying in the tent.

Thanks in advance, sorry for the long post for probably a basic question.

  2. Cardboard box and a fan works well

  3. Any tips for this? Or can you point me in the direction of a useful thread on this? Just want to make sure I do it right. Would suck to screw things up when they are so close to done.

  4. Looks like ya got 1-2 weeks left based on white hairs

  5. Did you zoom on the photos though? Trichs are cloudy/amber mix in some areas or pretty much all cloudy in others. I don't nnow if this is normal or not but this plant started showing trichs before any significant hairs and now the trichs look ready but it still has white hairs. My other plant, has been hairy as shit since flip (was showing some before flip as well) but has very little trichs forming compared to this plant.

Eitherway though, that plant got chopped today. All of those pics were of colas thay were close to the front of the tent, I looked closely at the back of the plant today and more than 50% of the trichs were amber so I decided it was time. Its now hanging upside down in a large cardboard box. First harvest... hope it dries alright.

  6. You have more then 1-2 weeks left. Be patient.

Edit: my bad I just read that you chopped. Should of waited buddy

  7. The Trich's on the Caylx's is what you go by, not what is on the sugar leaves. You still have many white pistil's and none of the brown/orange ones are receding back. Few more weeks buddy.

  8. Leaves amber first
    You harvested way early
That plant had plenty of growing and maturing left

  9. It would be very low thc right now, and probably not very dense. Needs 2-4 more weeks flower

  10. Well....shit. Apparently this was an important detail I missed. 9 weeks of veg, 10.5 weeks since flipped, that was a lot of waiting to fuck it up at the end.

Anyone ever try sticking the plant in a vase to keep it alive? Lmao

  11. Yeah after all of that waiting if you waited 2-4 more weeks it would probably weigh almost double as much, and would probably have 3x or more thc than it does now. The last few weeks is the most crucial time for resin production. I guess its a lesson learned

  12. For anyone that may be interested. I just started smoking some of it today (dried for 7 days, then jared with boveda packs to cure). The taste is crap (hopefully just needs more curing time) but it is a lot more potent than I expected. Which is kind of good news because I guess it wasn't a total waste, but also kind of a bummer to think of how much better it could have been.
