Hey, I have never grown cannabis before. Actually, I've never grown anything before haha. Since my property is like 2 acres and there is a commonly used trail near it, I can't grow outside. I wanted to just start off small and grow 2 very small cannabis plants in my closet. It's like a 3 foot wide 5 foot small closet, pretty small. Anyways, I have NO idea what to do for lighting. Can someone tell what lamp/light I should get for a small scale closet grow? Thanks. -Alitura
The choice of light is up to you....if you plan to use the whole closet, you can likely use MH or HPS. If not I would use CFL. And I think a rule of thumb is something like 100w per plant. I'm a micro grow noob myself, so hopefully others will chime in with more advice. I wish I could use my whole closet though, it would be the bomb!
I was in the same position 6 months ago.. Since thn I have harvested two small indoor plants using CFL's...( compact fluorescent lights) I learned a lot from trying in micro grows into YouTube... Look up cabinet grows and pc grows For a first timer I'd recommend CFL's because they are cheap... Easy to find. Perfect for a small space because they don't get too hot, eliminates any complex ventilation... When you use these, they need to be 2-4 inches from the top of the plant to be effective... Something to think about when setting up the closet... You'll either need to make it so you can raise the lights as the plant grows, or easier solution( what I do) hooked the lights up to the top of my unit and raised te plant up to them ... Using a rack I purchased. Some use books or anything you can stack..... Then take away as the plant grows taller Ou may also want to look into lst ( low stress training) I also use this technique of bending the branches down and securin them to the pot itself.... Creating a wider plant with more tops, rather than a taller plant with fewer tops.... I hope this all makes sense, if not, it's nothing a few YouTube vids and a google search can't help you with... Best to plan it all out first.. It's hard to correct issues when you are in the middle of the process.
You too. I'm happy to answer any questions. I'm pretty new at this but I've researched a lot and have had some great success. Happy holidays man
Yes, but you'll need to keep things cool in there with fans and all that. It'll be a good amount of light so thats a positive! A friend of mine uses a small closet with an HPS 400w and keeps the air moving around in there pretty good for best results.
That's all pretty good info.. But if u are just starting out and havnt grown anything before, prob best to start out small and build up from there.
