What about inert stainless steel? Aren't there some pretty nice pipes out there made out of that stuff? I hear they lack the metal taste and everything.
Inert stainless would be awesome if you don't care about watching it. You could then put lots of gadgets on it and even hide wires between an insulated layer. I suggest making the tube, running some components and then layering over that with cut outs for the respective gadgets faceplates/controls. I have many the same ideas do if you'd like to discuss anything ever please don't hesitate to ask.
