Noisy Inline Fan???!

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by snowuninc, Oct 21, 2008.

  1. I am currently tending to five white widows plants at 21 days of flowering. I have a 4" ValuLine Centrifugal Duct Blower Fan attached to my 400 watter. does anyone know how i can reduce the noise?

it's not awfully loud but i am getting plenty of air circulation and actually wouldn't mind slightly higher temps. so is there a way to reduce the power it uses, leading to slower fan speed and hopefully less noise?

I've seen voltage reducers for computer fans. Is there something similar?
thanks for any help. I wish i had a camera to show off my garden, maybe I'll come up with one.

  2. Well, you could use a dimmer switch, but it is not recommended for that sort of thing, and eventually you will lose your fan motor (I'm told). To reduce noise use INSULATED flexible ductwork, it will quieten down a lot from metal warm air pipe. You could use a timer so it doesn't run all the time to adjust temps.
