So, from what I've read about super soil (something I do now and know very well) and no till (minimal knowledge) what are the differences? Just the fact you don't till the soil? I skimmed the sticky on no tool and the recipe I saw on there wasnt far off from a basic super soil... So what gives? Upon reading "teaming with microbes" non disturbed soil has more fungi than bacteria, and tilled the opposite. Are there benefits from having a more fungi based soil food web? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I know of 4 commercial potting soils with the term 'super soil' and none of them have anything in common other than the fact that they're playing to the stoner market and nothing more. If you need questions answered about a particular soil, you'll need to post the ingredients. HTH
I make my own super soil... Going to start with peat moss, alfalfa meal, kelp meal, crab meal, ewc, Dolomite, rock dust. If I just don't till it is it non till soil though? Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Drop the dolomite lime - you've got all the calcium carbonate you could possibly need in the crab meal and EWC. Dolomite lime is a remaining piece of fraud from Cervantes' writings from 36 years ago. HTH
Its not that different at the beginning ..if you used quality compost / EWC which really is the basis of no-till .. You are continuously trying to improve the health of your soil malted barley to add enzymes, Aloe , fulvic acid , agisil which give you more than one benefit. not just to add more NPK components... To me really more of a mind set Improve your soil improve your pest resistance improve your medicine . Each cycle gets a little better , and really My real reason is it is easy and relaxing and grows great Meds ...
From what I understand the dolomite is to lower the pH of the peat moss? Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
