im growing two northern lights under a 100 watt diamond series led. Using fox farm ocean forest soil. Let them veg for five weeks then switched 12/12. I’m just over four weeks in and have been losing my bottom fan leaves. I bought two containers of nightcrawlers and put the castings, one in each pot, around them. Topped off with about an inch more fresh ff soil. I was hoping this would ease any deficiencies. I’m going for quality of taste over quantity of end product. I’m still fairly new to this but how serious is the deficiency and how will it affect quality and yield? Any and all info is greatly appreciated.
I wouldnt worry too much if its just a few bottom leaves, rest of the plant looks ok and thats what matters. Can't see the container size but they might be a bit small for the size plant you got there. I would recommend you get yourself some kelp meal and use that to top dress and make a weekly kelp meal tea for more available nutrition.
From the view you've provided, I agree there's nothing wrong with the overall health; losing fans feels more significant than it is.
I was only going to do one but wanted to see how two would go. I was worried the plants would get too big if I put them in a bigger pot. Thanks for the help!
I'd continue on with water only. It's perfectly okay for the plants to start yellowing at week 6 or 7. Right now they are dark green and perfectly healthy. Job well done! RD
Yes I would recommend only one plant for that wattage. Or get more watts. Check out hlg 288v2 quantum board.
Yeah the light I have was just a simple option. Just plug it in and done. If I am dealing with a larger plant, definitely could only fit one under this light. These are about 24” from the top of the pot so they’re just about at the max limit. Didn’t want to cull the second plant and was wondering what yields I would get putting it off to the side. Kind of an experiment. I’ve had luck with this light in the past. Has some kick to it. They are kinda pricey.
I too can agree. I've started to chill out when seeing a random leaf looking rough. It's just part of plants normal life cycle. Its when you start seeing wide spread similar symptoms that you should be alarmed. Best of wishes. Sent from my SM-N960U using Grasscity Forum mobile app
The effects are climbing up the plant at an alarming rate. I hope it’s normal. Almost at week five of flower.
I’m organic, I add fox farm to my plants about three times during flower. I leave space in the pots for the soil feedings. Maybe try adding more ocean forest if you have room. Definitely add more light if possible. Peace
Can you post a photo of the whole plant with pot? Could be just that the containers are too small for the size plants you have there.
