Just incase you didn't catch the article on CNN today, coffee shops in Amsterdam will no longer be serving you unless you are dutch, german, or belgian. Article here Dutch city's coffee shops close doors to most cannabis tourists - CNN.com
I had heard about this... but, as copied and pasted from the first sentence in the article: Coffee shops in the Dutch city of Maastricht have banned foreign tourists, except those from Germany and Belgium, from entering their premises from Saturday, according to the local association of coffee shops. I didn't read the rest thoroughly, but I didn't see a sentence that included the 'dam as part of this new decision. So.. yeah. If this DOES spread across the whole country, I am real glad I made it there years ago and got to experience the weed culture while back in America it was still a terrible crime.
Its said it was not going to be enforced by the law, and was only a self-regulation rule. Im sure there will still be alot of shops selling tourists weed.
im sad this happened before i got to go. i wanted to go in a couple years for a end of college vacation....
Here are the few Highlights I took from this. Hopefully it makes sense As said above it is just self regulated and not "law". Tourists are still alowed in the coffee shops and some may still even sell to them The city ban in Maastricht sounds temporary. . But it sounds like the National Gov't has its own plans. Sounds like the Dutch are getting sick of dealing with us.
Many cities in the Netherlands have objected to this as a nation wide plan. They understand that this will increase street dealing and make the job of their police force that much harder. The objections of the police on this, are hard to ignore. Combine that with the inn keepers association objections, and an objection by the board of tourism, and I don't think you'll see it happen in the Dam or the Hague. The cannabis cup may be another story.
FFS people, it's not banned in Amsterdam. Every year the right wing says something about banning foreigners, and nothing comes of it. Even if they are banning foreigners in a border city, they will never do it in Amsterdam, and even if they did, most places either would not care, or they would have a Dutch dude standing out front buying everybody weed. Even in the border cities, they are moving half the coffeeshops and letting foreigners have access to them then.
Cannabis Cup has been rigged for years in favor of Greenhouse Seeds and Barney's Farm seeds - see link in my sig for proof.
Cannabis Cup is a dumb idea anyways, you pay a bunch of money and all you get to do is vote in a rigged competition.
There are two coffeshop monopolies that organise the cup; The Greenhouse and Barneys - and be aware that Amnesia is merely Barneys under a psuedonym. The owners of the two, Arjan and Derry decide in advance how the whole event is going to play out. I worked for them and believe me I know. The decisions are a foregone conclusion!!! I was at one meeting when the decisions were made for the 2007 cup, and yes the awards went to - Barneys, Barneys, Barneys, Barneys... Watch the movie and see. A bad taste in the mouth? As for "one vote would have made the difference" .. utter nonsense, another stoners myth. How about the fact that after the cup is over, Barneys then deals some of the lowest grade hash and weed it has ever been my misfortune to sell under the heading "cup winner" at hugely inflated prices to anyone unfortunate enough to wish to sample the best of the best. The G13 Haze was in truth Arjans Haze! The Caramella Cream was if anything so badly tainted as to be toxic, unfit for human consumption. This was the reason I resigned. Add to that the fact that by buying from Barneys you are simply financing the owner's coke habit, and you have a scenario worthy of yet another documentary. By all means buy a judges pass, get the freebies, buy the cut price deals, and enjoy Amsterdam's glory. Get your money's worth, but do not be fooled as to think that your vote counts. Peace to the true dealers and bakers out there.
He isn't the only person saying that...Tons have people have speculated about the cup being rigged. West Coast > Amsterdam anyways
If the whole thing is rigged why not put this information in the media? And let them try to explain themselves on this issue. Show this as a play of bias from the companies that run the show. Once enough people hear of this then they will have to re-think the whole thing.
What purpose would that serve? I believe, it is far more beneficial for the movement as a whole to continue to push for more free marijuana laws.
It would show that these people are pushing their own interests other than the movement as a whole not only that it would expose their greed . People like that only hurt the cause not help it . That being said if they are not putting donations towards the legalization movement then it further harms the whole thing . People like that are trying to corner the market on Cannabis are going to want it the way it is and not legal, why? Because they are making lots of money at it and no-one else is able to . That is why exposing it would show them we can see through what they are trying to do.
It's common knowledge amongst many that the CC has been rigged for years. CC winners generates HUGE sales and profits for Greenhouse and Barney's - they make sure it happens in their favor. Money flows into their pockets and not the cause. Sad, but true.
