  1. Absolutely dude. The scope of the game is incredible. It really looks like nothing I've ever seen.

  2. Very excited

I will make sure I'm blasted before I blast off the first time

Ever play Spore? This game is actually following the same hype stages as that game did. People played Spore for about a week and noone ever heard of it again, except to mention how poorly it lived up to the hype.

Single-player* mining simulator with no story. It will get its weeks worth of play time and then relegated to trash bins around windows OS's everywhere. I encourage you to do some actual reading on what has been said about the game; it is whole-heartedly the most underwhelming hype machine in development to date.

*its stated MP is in the game but not like you'd think.

This is a HUGELY ambitious project being undertaken by and INDIE dev... a dev whos only success so far is the hype surrounding this project. This isn't like minecraft where one guy released a relatively self-sustaining small game that he could update at will. This is a AAA tier development plan being undertaken by no-names. You could say I am not impressed with the premise of development.

If you are fine with; flying to a planet, collecting shit, engaging in basic combat, collecting more shit, flying to another planet, collecting shit, engaging in basic combat, collecting more shit, flying to another planet, collecting shit, engaging in basic combat, collecting more shit, flying to another planet, collecting shit, engaging in basic combat, collecting more shit, flying to another planet, collecting shit, engaging in basic combat, collecting more shit, flying to another planet....

Then by all means, this is the game for you. What you have seen in trailers IS the full extent of the game.

TL;DR- this game probably isn't what your imagination wants it to be. It is VERY basic.

  7. I agree ill probably be dissapointed. But u cant downtalk spores that game was fucking awesome idk mite just be me but i enjoy exploration games with no end in sight but hey to each his own but i do see youre point

  8. I love games like that too. I played minecraft for many years. Its just to me.. you will quickly realize that this game has an 'end' in that it will become repetitive too quickly.

its not like I want this game to fail, i just think a lot of its diehard "hypers" are going to ultimately ruin it for everyone before it is even released.

  9. I'm bracing myself for really underwhelmed and bad reviews, but getting to play a really fun game

Even if the only good parts are flying and looking and walking around I'm set

  10. What this is, is a first step or one of the first steps into this kind of game world. NMW may not be amazing, but I fully expect other games to follow in its steps, only better.

We are at the precipice of games being entire universes. Remember when GTA3 came out on the PS2 and everyone's mind was blown by how "vast" the world was. Then future titles came out and we saw worlds that dwarf the world of GTA3. Now NMS is bringing you the universe it's bringing.

Just like with GTA and other titles, look to see versions of NMS (under different titles perhaps) come out with this same type of game, just more jam packed with stuff to do.

Get ready for more and more virtual worlds that can completely claim your life. This may not be one of them, but it's a step in the right direction.

  11. I'd agree with you if minecraft didn't exist. NMS is NOT a first step. MC game did this concept already, and nailed it 100%. What the original game doesn't offer in terms of 'galactic exploration', was taken care of very successfully by various modding teams.

  12. Hence my "or one of the first steps" addition. Minecraft could have been another step. The leveling up from MC to NMS in terms of visuals and potential is easy to acknowledge. The game that follows the two and combines the best of each will then be a mindblow that neither of the two games managed to achieve on its own.

  13. I'm excited! But I decided to rent it from GameFly when it comes out on retail. I've been burned too many times by games being hyped.

  14. No man's sky just looks like another survival exploration, sandbox. Yeah they added in spaceships an stuff but it just doesn't seem like anything new to me. But I do hope you guys enjoy it and blaze on.
